  • A beautiful place with a wonderful hostess.

"I can't think of a better way to visit Tuscany. This location was perfect for day trips into Florence(we recommend at least two days here) and all the hilltop towns we wanted to visit. Among them, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto and the Chianti region. With easy access to busses, trains(in Florence), and highways, we were able to travel each day only to return "home" each evening to relax. The view from our terrace was beautiful. Slightly out of town and high upon a hill allowed for peace and quiet to reflect on our day of travel and plan for the next. The path to get up to this wonderful villa is mostly gravel and steep, but well worth the trip once you see the view. We were amazed that we could make out some of the sights in Florence, including the Duomo and the Arno river. We were happy to have a full-functioning kitchen. We picked up groceries and local wine from the towns we visited each day and prepared a meal to enjoy out on that terrace each night. The sunrises and sunsets were truly breathtaking. The property itself is on an olive grove, and being here in the fall afforded us the chance to investigate the land. I brought my sketchbooks and watercolors to capture the famed Tuscan light. Fiorenza, our host, was most helpful, answering questions and accommodating our needs. The apartment was clean and well stocked with basics. There were maps and pamphlets left by our host and previous renters that we perused. The photos and descriptions in the listing do not do this rental justice...it was much nicer than we expected. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in this region. It is imperative that you have a rental car though. If were are blessed with the opportunity to visit this part of Italy again, we will most assuredly rent this apartment again."

  • We will return to Casa Rossa!

"My husand and I stayed with my mother at Casa Rossa for 6 nights in November 2014. The accommodations were perfect for us and both Francesco and his mother were gracious and helpful hosts. The house is exactly as pictured - charming, clean, and comfortable. The views of the Chianti hills from the terrace are splendid indeed! The location is perfect for exploring this region of Tuscany. We made easy drives to Florence, Siena and Pisa, and Francesco recommended off-the-beaten path destinations in Chianti that we thoroughly enjoyed. The local hill town of San Casciano is charming and has excellent restaurants. Our favorite was La Cantinetta del Nonno, recommended by our host. We enjoyed it so much we returned for another meal the next day. One nearby site that we found fascinating is the Amercian World War II cemetery near Florence (only 20 minutes or so from the house). We have already recommended Casa Rossa and Italy Perfect to friends. We were very please with the information we received in advance from Italy Perfect and every detail was attended to. Overall we would give this property an outstanding rating."

  • Tranquility, is one word I would use to describe this place!

"My family and I drove over from Switzerland, we were greeted with a delightful Tuscany meal of homemade lasagna etc. The food was excellent and the villa was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed walking through the olive trees and sitting out on the veranda for coffee. The host family were the kindest people in the world and made us feel like we were completely at home. This was the perfect place to stay, and I would highly recommend it. Sincerely, Donna"

  • The Perfect Tuscan Getaway!

"We had a wonderful vacation at the Villa Tantafera to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday in September. There were 10 of us all together and we could have probably fit 3-4 more adults comfortably. The Villa is the absolute epitome of the Tuscan countryside with SPECTACULAR views of Florence that are literally right out of a movie. Roberto and his family have done an amazing job at balancing the 400-year old Tuscan villa experience with a modern kitchen, HUGE hot tub in the basement, and AIR-CONDITIONED bedrooms. It was absolutely perfect for our celebration which included a private chef dinner in the great dining room that overlooks the Duomo at nite. If you want a real Tuscan countryside experience that is a 10 minute drive to the heart of the city, this is the place. Spectacular views, wonderful grounds, modern amenities and A/C, and a Villa that just keeps going and going with rooms. 5 Stars and GREAT VALUE!"
