  • Fantastic apartment in a relaxing and welcoming city

"This apartment was everything that we hoped it would be. Luciano and Rosa made us feel welcomed and at home from the time that they responded to our first email through the time of our departure two weeks after our arrival. The apartment is spacious with a comfortable bed, working kitchen, beautiful rooftop terrace, large bathroom, and large open living area. We managed to take full advantage of the kitchen during our stay, and we really enjoyed shopping for local ingredients and then preparing dinners in the kitchen and then eating on the terrace. The two bicycles were a great addition. We enjoyed using them on the city walls. The apartment is located very close to the city bus stop area, and to the train station. It is easy to navigate the streets with luggage without the need for a car or taxi. The 72 steps up to the apartment that is located on the top floor sounds worse than it actually is. Luciano insisted in helping us carry our luggage up and down the stairs. We approached the stairs as part of our overall fitness regime in Lucca that included bike riding and a significant amount of walking. Lucca is a special place. The historic city center, located within the city walls, is a great place to immerse in Italian culture and language. After two weeks in Lucca, we found ourselves recognizing the same locals and their dogs while walking on the city walls, and we found people to be genuinely pleased that we were visiting their city. Lucca is a small enough place for us to feel comfortable in the surroundings. It has a much different feeling to it than a larger city like Florence where things are more impersonal and move at a faster pace. It is nice to be able to return to relaxing Lucca after a day in busy Florence. Florence is a 80 minute train ride, and Viareggio is about 25 minutes by train. We look forward to the time that we can return to this fantastic apartment and to this welcoming city."

  • A LOVELY OWNER!

"This tastefully furnished and sunny appartment has everything that makes you feel at home in Lucca and part of tuscan life. We have stayed there twice and hope to return to this dreamhouse. It is situated on a quiet, dreamy street but only a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city, a short walk to the via fillungo shopping street and chucrch-theatres (Puccini concerts take place there!) and almost in front of the antique Town Hall gardens where we often came to relax or read under the sun. This part is the old town and has a beautiful atmosphere. Here you find the real Lucca; great wine shops in the middle of luxury clothes and bone china shops. Enjoy a cappuccino in a bar and watch the Italians stroll by. The apartment itself is comfortable and beautifully furnished. You will find air conditioning, a reliable internet connection , new comfortable furniture and lots of books about Lucca. The comfortable mattress and a new clean bathroom with a big shower (and a lovely view) are not missing. And Mrs Sonia who welcomed us is very sweet. We strongly recommend this appartment; we had been in Lucca before, staying in a hotel. But in this apartment we did not feel like a tourist, but like a local. It made the experience one not to forget."

  • Wonderful vacation spot in charming Lucca.

"Apartmento Gabry is just outside the mura (wall) of Lucca, with all necessary conveniences, chic design and close proximity to the best Italian mercato (grocery store). Gabriele is an excellent host and charming man, who gives all attention to his guests questions and needs. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend. There are two cute bikes to use to ride all around Lucca and live la dolce vita. Puccini music in the town centrale, close to trains, good wine, food, people, etc. Perfetto."

  • A week at Villa Gabrielli

"Our vacation week at Villa Gabrielli was beautiful. Make sure you arrive in daylight as it is very difficult to find. God bless Gina, she came and found us and escorted us to the house at 10 pm the day we arrived. The house was fabulous, very well appointed with all the comforts of home and a beautiful pool to cool down in after longs hot days of sightseeing. The location, which is in the mountains 45 minutes north of Lucca, was so gorgeous and a great location to do many day trips. We went to Cinque Terra, Florence, Lucca and Pisa. Bagni di Lucca is a great little town, good restaurants, fun shopping and the girls spent a great day at the spa in town."
