  • The Highlight of Our Vacation!

"One of the best choices we made in planning our 3 week vacation in Italy was booking Villa Alventura! Our group of 3 couples did a lot of research to find the perfect villa and the helpful advice of owner Anne prior to booking was the deciding factor in making our choice. With a GPS and good instructions we were able to find our way from Florence airport where we had rented our van. On arrival we all fell in love with our new home with the amazing views and Tuscan feel. We appreciated the little touches like fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, and washcloths! Every couple was happy with their spacious bedroom/bathroom and we couldn’t wait to enjoy the pool and many outdoor seating areas with amazing views. We got groceries at the nearby supermarket and spent the next day just enjoying the villa; one of our best days! We were fortunate to be able to enjoy the pool in late September. I had reservations about being so far from central Tuscany but in hindsight it was nice to be in a less touristy area. We took a day trip to Lucca and biked on the wall; spent a day exploring in Barga; took a cooking class in our villa arranged by Anne; explored the local wine route; and took a day trip to Cinque Terre (I highly recommend you let Anne guide you as we did). As much as we enjoyed these outings, we found we were always eager to get back “home”! I would recommend you have your own vehicle, however I do think you could book this villa and just tour with Anne as she provides airport transfers and many options for exploring the area. Don’t forget to spend some time just living “la Bella Vita” at Villa Alventura and in the lovely town of Barga!"

  • Away from touristy Italy but close enough to visit if you wish.

"We had a wonderful week in this very comfortable villa. The villa was all that we hoped for and more. The kitchen was very useable - the BEST pots & pans and knives that I have ever found in any rental or time share. All 3 bedrooms were good size with comfortable mattresses. Outside the villa there is a nice patio, (pizza oven & table for 6) with a great view of nearby Barga. The small village of Albiano was a short 10 minute walk - nice restaurant, bar, groceries. Barga is a 25 minute winding drive below the villa or you can walk down in about the same time via the old donkey trail - relatively easy ups and downs. The wonderful city of Lucca is about 40 minutes away. Florence and Pisa are also close but we were looking for a rural non tourist experience that is exactly what we found here."

  • Wonderful Vacation at this Magnificent Residence

"My wife and I just returned from spending one month at this incredible residence in Barga. The apartment is inside the walls of historic Barga and had everything we could have hoped for to make our visit perfect. The owner was very easy to deal with and he stayed in contact during our stay to make sure everything was as expected. Barga is a great location to journey through Tuscany. We visited countless villages, vineyards, and cities - and were always glad to be able to come back to such a great apartment each night! There are lots of great restaurants within short walking distance, and also a fully stocked kitchen if you choose to cook at home. The views from the apartment are amazing and each morning we enjoyed coffee on the patio and when we were there in the afternoon we would have wine and cheese while enjoying the great vistas! We could not have been happier with any part of our experience during our month there. Perfect best describes our experience in Barga. We hope we have the chance to return one day."

  • Family vacation in Barga

"We rented the Taverna and the ground floor apartment opposite. For the 7 members of the family this was ideal and very safe for the children. The accommodation was very cool, clean and had all the amenities we needed for a stay with children. Maria was extraordinarily kind and helpful, full of suggestions for trips, including a sagra, and everything we asked for, maps, hairdryer, lamps, balls[ children] was provided. We could not have been better looked after; we would love to return.Barga is a wonderful place and a good base for exploring Tuscany."
