"We had a wonderful time at Bruno and Iliria's apartment overlooking the Anfiteatro.
The apartment is very comfortable with all of the amenities that we could have hoped for. The small touches were the ones most appreciated; coffee, tea, sugar, oil, vinegar and especially the umbrellas!
This was the 4th stop on our Italian holiday – and although the other apartments were also very good, none provided those “little extras”. It’s the little things that count the most when you're far away from home.
We found Lucca ideal for our day trips to Pisa and the Cinque Terre, and the city itself is captivating in many ways. We could easily have stayed within 100 meters of the walls of the Anfiteatro, everything we needed was close by.
Wonderful restaurants (especially L’Angolo Tondo) fantastic gelato, good shopping, all within a few minutes’ walk. We couldn’t have asked for better.
Sitting on the window sill as the sun sets and the lights around the Anfiteatro come to life one by one, with a glass of prosecco in hand is the best way to end a day – we will remember our time in Lucca with great affection."

"We are home about a week now and I want to write and tell you a bit about our trip to Italy, including our stay in this marvelous farmhouse villa. It was WONDERFUL. We had a few days in NYC, a few days in Venice, and a day on each end for travel, which was lovely all-in-all. But the two weeks in Lucca were just lovely, and beyond our dreams.
We jumped right in and felt right at home. We ate at the Osteria di Meati three times I think. I am a vegetarian and immediately fell in love with Mistra di farro…could not get enough! We found a great place to park outside the wall of Lucca, which gave us a quick entrance to the city and gave us a chance to get acquainted with the train station which we used a few times (once to Florence and once to Siena).
We were 10 people for a few days, but mostly had 5 in residence at the villa. The location worked out well for the areas we had planned to visit and for the red Fiat we had rented. I had stayed in Florence on a previous trip, but could not believe how crowed it was this time. San Gimignano was very crowded also. Lucca was just perfect! I love the size and pace of the city, and will love to return some day.
We noticed how green the countryside was of course, coming from drought-ridden SoCal. And, we loved how fresh the food was. Seven of us went to Chef Paolo Monti's Cooking School for one class, and it was fabulous, and a real high point of the trip.
My son is a pretty serious cyclist and brought his bicycle. He was able to do (4) 40+mile rides, including one over the hill to Pisa. He was in heaven! His son loved the flora and fauna of the villa…found slugs, and insects of every conceivable make and model, and practiced his catch-and-release policy.
It was a great family trip and I thank you so much for making your Italian home available to us. It was a dream!
So, thanks again for everything! It was lovely being there and sooooo tough to leave."

"This was the perfect house for a group of 11, representing two families, one from England and the other from the USA. We have all vacationed together in the past, but this home was the best - with large comfortable beds and a private bath for each bedroom. We loved the combination of large outdoor areas to gather, as well as the balconies where smaller groups could visit with each other. We prepared many meals in the well-outfitted kitchen and were pleased that all 11 of us could eat at one table.
We took day trips to Pisa and Lucca by car, and to Florence by train from Viareggio. Our trip to the beach in Viareggio was just okay, as we did not arrange to use one of the private beaches and the public beach was dirty. (There are instructions in the house guide about the private beaches so that is what we would do the next time.)
Late May is a perfect time to visit as the weather is still cool enough for sight-seeing in the cities, and yet warm enough to wear shorts at the villa. The pool was too cold for most of the older adults, but the "under-35's" went swimming and the parents enjoyed sitting on the lovely pool chairs and lounges."

"Lucca is a true jewel in Tuscany's crown, and, what's more, very few people seem to know about it. This means that while the queue for Firenze's Duomo is already 3 hours long at 9.30, Lucca's streets are almost deserted by that time of day. After a few days, the neighborhood baker knows you by name (almost).
Deemed "worth the journey" by the Green Michelin, this city has no Michelangelos, no Tintorettos or other masterpieces. Instead, it offers one of the most unspoilt 15-17th century cityscapes in Tuscany; tourist buses and their occupants are blissfully absent.
In the middle of this, adjacent to the main shopping street, is the apartment, where we spent 10 happy days before and after my birthday in August 2015. Its location, its square views, and excellent amenities - 2 large baths, wonderful kitchen, spaceful bedrooms and tastfully appointed living room - makes I this apartment a wonderful, relaxed base of operations in one of the quieter corners of Tuscany (with Pisa a 20-minute drive, and Firenze just 35 minutes away).
Highly recommended, not in the least because of the excellent and thoughtful service by the owners. They paid great attention to all our needs in a very professional and caring way. Thank you!"
