"This was the perfect house for a group of 11, representing two families, one from England and the other from the USA. We have all vacationed together in the past, but this home was the best - with large comfortable beds and a private bath for each bedroom. We loved the combination of large outdoor areas to gather, as well as the balconies where smaller groups could visit with each other. We prepared many meals in the well-outfitted kitchen and were pleased that all 11 of us could eat at one table.
We took day trips to Pisa and Lucca by car, and to Florence by train from Viareggio. Our trip to the beach in Viareggio was just okay, as we did not arrange to use one of the private beaches and the public beach was dirty. (There are instructions in the house guide about the private beaches so that is what we would do the next time.)
Late May is a perfect time to visit as the weather is still cool enough for sight-seeing in the cities, and yet warm enough to wear shorts at the villa. The pool was too cold for most of the older adults, but the "under-35's" went swimming and the parents enjoyed sitting on the lovely pool chairs and lounges."

"This is a wonderful place to stay in Lucca if you are there for five days or more (and it is certainly a city worth spending time in). It is perfect for those with mobility issues because there is an elevator to reach the apartment door. The flat itself has everything you could want - a fully equipped kitchen including all the basic provisions to make a meal, such as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bathroom is new and recently done as Sonia told us and has a an excellent shower and is well lit. The living room is very comfortable, with quality couches. There is useful reading material in English about Lucca. And importantly, the bed, in a separate bedroom with good cupboard space is also very comfortable. The highlight for us was the view and the interiors - relaxing for having lunch or a glass of wine at the table, and being able to gaze around at Lucca's architectural wonders. There is a high quality grocery/delicatessen/wine shop practically next door (to the right from the front door) selling the best of Tuscan produce, and a very large supermarket tucked away downstairs in an arcade to the left just a minute's walk away. We tried a variety of local restaurants. We had several outstanding culinary experiences, and preferred the unpretentious osteria which offer limited menus of good home style Tuscan cooking and decent house wine for very reasonable prices. Lucca is a small city, and all its major attractions are within an easy stroll of the apartment. It also makes a good base to explore the Tuscan countryside or for a day trip to Florence. Not having a car we booked a day trip with local guide, to visit some wineries to try the famous red wines of Montecarlo. This was a great day out with a very engaging and knowledgeable guide. We highly recommend a stay in this Tuscan flat. Jane & Mat NY USA"
