  • Villa Iolanda

"We had a very nice and comfortable stay, the house is very well organised. The place is absolutely beautiful and the owners charming and very helpful. I would certainly recommend a stay in this property bearing in mind there are plenty of activities proposed. The swimming pool, ping pong etc. were great fun for the young. There are plenty of lovely restaurants to sample in the area, lots of site seeing possibilities and the sea is only 45 minutes away!"

  • The Highlight of Our Vacation!

"One of the best choices we made in planning our 3 week vacation in Italy was booking Villa Alventura! Our group of 3 couples did a lot of research to find the perfect villa and the helpful advice of owner Anne prior to booking was the deciding factor in making our choice. With a GPS and good instructions we were able to find our way from Florence airport where we had rented our van. On arrival we all fell in love with our new home with the amazing views and Tuscan feel. We appreciated the little touches like fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, and washcloths! Every couple was happy with their spacious bedroom/bathroom and we couldn’t wait to enjoy the pool and many outdoor seating areas with amazing views. We got groceries at the nearby supermarket and spent the next day just enjoying the villa; one of our best days! We were fortunate to be able to enjoy the pool in late September. I had reservations about being so far from central Tuscany but in hindsight it was nice to be in a less touristy area. We took a day trip to Lucca and biked on the wall; spent a day exploring in Barga; took a cooking class in our villa arranged by Anne; explored the local wine route; and took a day trip to Cinque Terre (I highly recommend you let Anne guide you as we did). As much as we enjoyed these outings, we found we were always eager to get back “home”! I would recommend you have your own vehicle, however I do think you could book this villa and just tour with Anne as she provides airport transfers and many options for exploring the area. Don’t forget to spend some time just living “la Bella Vita” at Villa Alventura and in the lovely town of Barga!"

  • Amazing Villa Comes Highly Recommended!

"We stayed for 1 week in July 2013 at Villa Gabriella. They were 9 of us in the party: 4 adults, 2 young adults, and 3 teenagers. Our stay was amazing. There was plenty of space for all of us to be together or sneak off and have some quiet time. The setting is very picturesque and quiet. The home is only two years old so it has the charm of an old Italian villa but the conveniences of a new home. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished and there are 3 bedrooms up with queen size beds and 2 bedrooms down with 1 queen bed and a pull-out couch. There is one full bath upstairs and two full baths down. The main floor is open concept with a generous kitchen, dining room and family room. There are many places to sit outside and all of the windows have screens and those lovely Italian shutters to keep the sun out and the fresh air in. No air conditioning required as the mountain location is 10 degrees cooler than the cities which were about 36 degrees (over 100F) when we visited. We took several day trips from the villa including Florence, Pisa and Lucca (my favourite). There are a few restaurants in town and one that does speak English and the food was excellent. Bagni di Lucca is very small but had a grocery store (Conad) with everything we needed. Some of the more adventurous in our party also did a quad trip just up the road and the reviews of the tour and sights were all excellent. I cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had with Gina and Villa Gabrielli. I highly recommend the villa for the "particular" traveler as the house was beautiful inside and out, well-kept by a gardener and a pool service and was very clean. Pool towels were also provided and the villa is gated for extra security (not that it is needed). I look forward to one day visiting Villa Gabrielli again."
