  • A true gem, with a million dollar view!

"Cuatico is a true gem of a old farmhouse, with all the modern conveniences. The view is spectacular, as you are high enough up to see for kilometers (that island in the distance is Elba 140 km away). The kitchen is very well equipped, and spacious. The entire place was spotless! There is a lovely dining room, but most meals will be taken on the terrace, or one of the other seating/dining areas outside. You are in the middle of an olive grove, and if you are there at the right time of the year, there are fresh lemons and figs for the picking. The only drawback is the tortuous road up the hill, and the steep narrow driveway. We were traveling with our daughter, son-in-law and two pre-teen grandsons. The kids made good use of the pool, and all loved the experience. While there we went to Lucca, Florence, Modena, Cinque Terre and Bologna, all within a 2 hour radius, as is Sienna, Pisa and many other notable destinations. If we ever come back to Tuscany, we will rent Curatico, even if we don`t need accommodation for 8 to 10."

  • The Perfect Italian Experience

"If you are planning to spend time in Tuscany, Italy, be it a day or two, a week, or a month, the perfect place is Villa Lucia in Montevetolini. The location (although a little hard to find) is ideal. Less than an hour by train or car from Florence, Lucca, and Piza, international airports in Piza and Florence, and easy day trips to all the "must see" towns and vineyards of Tuscany and Cinque Terra. After a day of busy sightseeing, you return to this 400+ year old farmhouse in the peaceful, quiet countryside surrounded by acres of olive orchards. After your return, enjoy an Italian style family dinner which is probably more memorable than the day's journeys. Why bother with the hustle and bustle of a restaurant when you have Lucy and her husband Jorge, former award winning restaurant owners in Orange County, California as your hosts. My first stay at Villa Lucia was in 1999. Traveling alone looking for a special place in Tuscany to take my family in 2000 to celebrate the millennium in an unforgettable fashion. From the moment I entered the house, I felt like I was returning home to my Italian heritage. The 17 of us returned in 2000 for 2 weeks. Since then I have returned "to my home in Italy" with family and friends six additional times. Villa Lucia is an exceptional destination, experience, and creator of wonderful memories."
