"Our adult family of 6 (3couples) arrived at this charming villa after an easy drive from Rome's airport. All directions provided by the owner worked flawlessly. We found the spacious house, set on a quiet property on the edge of Citta della Pieve, to have a great view of the Tuscan countryside. Yet the villa is only a short walk into town where groceries, shops, restaurants are located. The walk is short, but a bit steep and rocky in parts. Not a problem for those in reasonable condition. Fortunately it is downhill on the way back when you may be loaded down with groceries, etc.
The house has every amenity each of our group wanted. There are even local wines and olive oil fo available for purchase. The friendly local caretakers made themselves available if needed, but were not intrusive in any way. The house and grounds were immaculately cared for, including the swimming pool. It was a little chilly to swim, though our younger family members did. Sitting poolside was an enjoyable way to soak up the Tuscan sun.
With a vehicle, exploring the Italian countryside was very easy to do; but GPS is highly recommended. We found Google maps on an iPhone worked quite well. Short drives took us the Chiusi (train station and sightseeing), Lake Trasimeno, Siena, and Montalcino. Florence was less than 2 hours by train. There were so many interesting sights within easy driving distance, we had a difficult time deciding which to do. It would take 2 weeks to take in everything available.
If available during your visit, all 6 of our group would HIGHLY recommend the owner arranged cooking class and also the wine tasting. Driving to another villa to join other travelers in fun and interesting cooking instruction by a retired Italian couple, who ran a local restaurant for 50 years, was very special indeed. Finishing the evening by eating our self prepared pasta and tiramisu was delightful.
The afternoon wine tasting was another very enjoyable activity. if you like wine, you will thoroughly enjoy this tasting of some excellent Brunello di Montalcino wines, accompanied by a light antipasto. Winemaker Mario, at 80 years of age, is a spry enthusiastic host at this 50 + year old winery. For me it is hard to beat drinking fine Brunello in a small Montalcino winery.
This villa is a comfortable house for 6 adults that is perfectly situated to take advantage of all southern Tuscany and Umbria have to offer."

"If you are looking for a quiet, remote Tuscan hideaway in an area that is easily accessible (by car) to all the quaint hill towns in Tuscany, Podere Patrignone is the place for you. We planned our week's stay in this quaint farmhouse as one of the last stops after a summer of travelling through France, Switzerland & Austria. The week was too short. Simon, Verity and their trusted helper, Donna, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and completely at home. We were so pleased to enter our adorable little farmhouse apartment (Il Forno) to find a warm loaf of Verity's home made bread, jam, olive oil, & wine, along with a plate of cheese & salami. The extensive property with it's gardens (hedges of rosemary!), olive trees and a fabulous views of San Gimignano and surrounding villages from the gorgeous pool terrace. If you enjoy walking & pets, you won't be disappointed here. We settled into daily walks accompanied by Lola & Charlie as faithful companions & they even led us home one day when we got lost. Our stay at Podere Patrigone was so much more than we ever expected. Verity's home cooked dinner was fabulous. In addition to Simon & Verity's willingness to answer any questions and help us with plans for daily excursions, they went a step further in allowing us to "foster parent" Lola & Charlie. It was a tearful farewell, made a bit less painful by the fact that we're going back next year. This time for two weeks!"
