  • Great place

"We stayed at this lovely Villa for eight nights. It is delightful. Built hundreds of years ago but all the modern conveniences. The owner, Barbara, is delightful and speaks perfect English. The town is a small walled City with a great restaurant and marvelous historical sites. It is in a perfect location but tucked in the mountains away from everything. Only 20 minutes from some of the loveliest places in Italy. We would come back without a doubt"

  • Perfect Honeymoon Retreat!!

"My new husband and I spent a week long retreat here at Poggio Pilella on our honeymoon. We took a train straight into Chiusi and rented a car from Avis and were at the cottage within 10 mins or so. We were blown away at how beautiful this property was. This gated property is situated on an olive grove and vineyard, the infinity pool and grounds are beautiful! The cottage was perfectly appointed and the owners Stefano and Isabella have impeccable taste. It was super clean, and stocked with everything you would need to cook a perfect Italian meal. And the owners left us with a beautiful bottle of their wine, olive oil and homemade jam. So good!! We spent some afternoons by the pool and evenings cooking in our cottage and star gazing. It was stunning! One night we sat by the warmth of the fireplace. We booked our stay with Linda, who also arranged a cooking class one night and a wine tasting one afternoon. Both of these were such great additions to our trip, and our Brunello Wine tasting with at Abbadia Ardenga will remain one of our favourite days! At the villa, Stefano arranged an olive oil tasting, Carlo was super entertaining and knowledgeable. There are piles of medieval villages within an hour of the villa and we had one of our best meals in Cetona at Osteria del Merlo. We loved everything about our stay here and it was the perfect after staying in the craziness of Rome. Would definitely recommend this property and hope to come back one day! Thank you Stefano, Isabella and Linda for making our honeymoon perfect!"

  • Charmed in Chianti

"I rarely take the time to write reviews. Actually, now that I think about it, this is the first time. I'm writing because this place was fantastic! We are two 55+ couples (one from Barcelona and one from New Orleans) and had a great 6 days at Il Fienile. Usually web page photos far exceed what you find when you arrive. However, in this case, the accommodations were better than in the photos (larger and more expansive). The location feels very peaceful and remote but is only a short 5km drive away to the nearby towns of Radda and Catellina. Mimma was very helpful in recommending restaurants and giving tips about the area. And, even though the time of year did not require a fire (and the fireplace was cleaned for the spring/summer) we wanted one for the coziness factor. Franco went out of his way to restock firewood and kindling and we really enjoyed the fantastic fireplace. Finally, one member of our group forgot his iPhone in the house. Mimma went out of her way to ensure that it found its way safely back to New Orleans. It is a beautiful area to explore, but this home to return to each night made it even better. Thanks Mimma and Franco."
