  • idyllic Tuscan estate

"it's hard to add to the reviews already posted this home is idyllic - spacious, beautifully located and serviced by a wonderful team. It was a privilege to be able to marry our daughter from there"

  • Wonderful apartment in a great location in Rome!

"Having never been to Rome, I wasn't sure what to expect from the area or where to stay. Eugenio 32 did not disappoint! The ease of getting to the apartment from Roma Termini was incredible, one metro stop! And then only a very short walk to the front door! The rooms are very large and the living room is cozy to just relax! The kitchen has everything you need. The location is ideal for the metro or a short walk to the Coloseum! There is even a great market one block away with anything you could need for your stay! We had 4 adults and 4 children ages 3-7 and everyone enjoyed the stay! Thank you Francesca! We would definitely stay again on a return trip to Rome!"

  • A Taste of Heaven

"What does one say when you come across a physical space that embraces you, renews you and makes it oh so easy to live. Il Conventaccio is a most special and remarkable place to be. I cannot thank the owners sufficiently for the care and effort and vision they had in restoring this 12 century convent property from it ruinous state into the elegant and comfortable home that they have. From the minute you arrive you can only gasp at the beauty of the entire surroundings as you sense the peacefulness within the walls and throughout the land on which it sits. Five of us had ventured from the US for a two week respite and we found a taste of heaven. There is nothing in Conventaccio that was done without great thought and in the most exquisite of tastes. The area is charming and enchanting as one of the many hill towns with its own unique individual history and storied past. All that you read regarding the home's spaciousness and comfort is true but the words cannot capture the deep sense of place and peace it evokes as you spend time there. The mornings are simply wonderful as you awake to the dawn and the sun shows its face, the birds sing, and the neighboring bells begin their toll. You arise to see a stunningly beautiful Umbrian landscape from your window which is calling you to greet another beautiful day in Umbria. Simply breathtaking and the owners have many kind recommendations along with the gracious assistance of their caretaker which makes your stay at Conventaccio so very easy and one which will beckon you to return. WOW"

Tuscany Travel Tips

Lovely Settings Around Tuscany

Known for its beautiful landscapes, ancient cities and artistic heritage, Tuscany is a charming part of Italy to visit. Stay in the quiet countryside just outside the bustling cities and enjoy the peaceful landscape dotted with Etruscan farmhouses, olive groves and delightful palazzo.

The Benefits of Tuscany Vacation Rentals

Renting a vacation rental is the best way to get the most from your Tuscan experience. Delightful villas and historic homes with quiet terraces are set amidst the rolling hills and wineries of the area. Imagine taking a relaxed breakfast in your own private herb gardens and olive groves. Italian food always tastes best when enjoyed outdoors in the fresh air! Vacation villas have plenty of room, making sharing the space with family and friends a real pleasure, and it makes good economic sense too. Dine at your leisure on local wines, cold meats and cheese picked up at the local market. Follow paths into the surrounding hillside or take a trip to the nearest historic city. Tuscany is packed with pleasures and a week is just not long enough to enjoy a Tuscany vacation rental!

Must-See Places to Visit in Tuscany

One day, at least, should be set aside for visiting Florence (Firenze) with its amazing historical buildings, frescoes, churches and artwork. The Duomo, with its “doors of paradise” and historic dome, the Fountain of Neptune and the Bargellow Museum in the Gothic palazzo are just some of the highlights.

Pisa is well known for its leaning tower but there is so much more to see and do in this historic city. The Campo dei Miracoli is considered one of the most beautiful piazzas in the world. The National Museum has many pieces of priceless artwork from the Medici, Lorena and Savoia courts.

The smaller towns of Lucca and Cortona contain some of Italy’s finest treasures. Thermal pools abound in the area around Lucca, offering a quieter place to relax than the crowded beaches in the summer months. It is always worth paying for a private “bagni” (a local beach club) to get your own chair, umbrella and private space on the busiest beaches.

Things to do Around Your Tuscany Accommodations

Tuscany is full of historic places to visit and things to see and do. Head for the hills and enjoy hiking or cycling amidst wild flowers, local fauna and acres of grape vines. Every hillside seems to have its own walled town with ancient red-tiled roofs and old-fashioned shops selling locally produced food. You can even take a cooking course here.

Castles, fortresses and watchtowers are testament to the Middle Age battles which have left an interesting legacy. Visit museums, churches with their centuries-old frescoes, and fabulous art galleries. Eating out is part of the pleasure of a visit to Tuscany. Sit back and let the waiter serve you course after course of tasty local morsels, each with their own wine accompaniment.

Getting to Your Tuscany Villas

Tuscany has two international airports, the Galileo Galilei International Airport at Pisa and the Amerigo Vespucci Airport in Florence which is also known as the Peretola Airport. Direct flights from North America can be expensive, so consider a stop-over in a London holiday rental or Paris villa and take a budget flight with a low-cost airline such as Ryan Air to complete the journey. Once in Tuscany, you can explore the major cities on foot but you will probably need a car to reach your vacation villa and to explore the surrounding countryside.

The Weather in Tuscany

The weather in Tuscany is generally mild with warm summers reaching 40 C (104 F). The hills are cooler than the coast and valleys during the summer; there are more showers at higher elevations, especially during the spring and fall seasons. Winters are chilly but temperatures generally remain above freezing in Tuscany.
