  • Oxana is the bomb and her apartment is the best!

"If you're going to be spending any time in Orvieto, this is the place to be. Not only is the apartment immaculate, silent and with the best views you could ask for, but your host is the best. Oxana is a great communicator before and during the rental and totally accommodating. The only caveat I would offer is that there are four flights of stairs (67 totally) up to the apartment, but once there, it's totally worth the walk. I've rented multiple apartments in a variety of countries and this is one of the top. Orvieto is a great place to stay and use as a center for day trips and Oxana's apartment is ideal as a headquarters. Don't think twice about this one."

  • Outstanding Private Villa with Swimming Pool

"This is an outstanding value. It is difficult to decide where to begin. The house is tastefully decorated and spacious. Cathedral ceilings throughout lend to the feel of spaciousness. The kitchen is easy to use and very well equipped, from major appliances to small appliances, pots and pans, dishes and glasses. Wireless internet make staying connected easy. We stayed for over 3 weeks, so the clothes washing machine was a godsend. The weather normally allowed drying on the clothes line, but we could also dry clothes on the drying rack in the separate washing/drying room. The pool, while unheated, is large, well cared for, and stayed a comfortable temperature throughout our stay due to warm weather. The grounds are well cared for. The property is very private and secure. The lot is large, and fully fenced. There is a lockable gate for the driveway. Bushes, shrubs and trees completely screen the pool area and house. There is a territorial view to a nearby small lake and hills to the back and side of the property. Weekly change of towels and bedding was provided. We arranged for additional once per week cleaning at a very reasonable rate to enhance our vacation experience. We had a car, which is mandatory for this property, and used our home as a base for exploring the history rich area. We were most enamored with the old small towns and villages, including Orvieto. Enough cannot be said about Mandy, our property manager. She was always available to give us advice and answer our questions. She acquainted us with local sights to see, and most importantly where to shop for groceries, meats, cheeses, English language newspapers, and the like. Through Mandy we took a pizza-making class from a local expert pizza chef. Through Mandy we took a guided 8 mile hike through the local landscape, including ancient Etruscan and Roman roads. The couple who guided us are renowned in their own right - Paul a well known photographer and author, and Lois an expert in local lore and history. All told, our time in this Villa made for the best vacation we have ever experienced."

  • Truly wonderful

"Based on the reviews we had high hopes and Il Berneto was still even better than expected. What a truly wonderful place. It has everything you could want for a family or group vacation - great location, stunning grounds and views, a spacious and well-maintained beautiful house. Martina is the consummate host - thank you so much for opening your family's farmhouse to vacation rentals! We went off-season in November for 8 days. It ended up being a great time to visit - it was olive harvest time. We were greeted by Martina and her mother with a bottle of freshly milled olive oil made from the olive trees on the property. We picked up a couple more bottles later as well at the mill close to the town of Fabro Scala a short drive away. Before and after we arrived, Martina was always quick to respond to any questions and provided us with many recommendations for things to do and places to visit in the region. She even arranged a private tasting for us at the winery Tenuta Corini nearby. We took easy day trips to Orvieto, Assisi, Civita di Bagnoregio, Perugia (and the Case del Cioccolato outside of town for a tour) and a couple of times to Citta della Pieve which is another of the many hilltop towns a short drive away. It was nice to be able to avoid the crowds in off-season. Our two year old son never wanted to leave the propery because he loved playing inside and on the grounds with all of the kids toys, especially the little tractor. That was fine with us as we loved just wandering to the quiet non-touristy town of Monteleone d'Orvieto, picking up groceries at the store at the end of the lane and cooking at home. We even roasted chestnuts in the large living room fireplace. One night Anna - who does a wonderful job as housekeeper - cooked a terrific many course meal for us as well. There are a couple of decent cafe's within a very short walk - one just at the end of the lane to the house by the road and the other (Seven Cafe) just a couple of minutes further walking. La Tana del Gufo is a good family restaurant/pizzeria also less than a 10 minute walk away. Normally my wife and I don't like going back to same place twice, but we hope to make Il Berneto one of the exceptions. We really hope to make it back soon for another stay!"

"In July 2011, my husband and I & 8 of our closest friends converged on Il Pianaccio in Umbria, Italy. It was our second visit to this heavenly place. Our first time being in late August/September 2008. The weather was spectacular on both occasions as were the accommodations. The house is very spacious and comfortable for a large group. All the amenities of home and more. We enjoyed great meals on the outdoor pergola, bocce ball games, pool time (with a view) and relaxing. Be sure to take advantage of the pizza oven...nothing better. Some enjoyed the great hiking opportunities that lie just beyond the driveway. Our day trips were equally as special. A trip to Deruta is a must if you love ceramics. Also, the hilltop town of Todi is definitely worth a few hours of exploring the wonderful little shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend a stay at this spectacular Italian villa. You won't be disappointed. We certainly hope to visit again in the future."
