"This is what is must be like to summer at an old family place at the top of a Tuscan hill town. The views were spectacular from all sides of property. The place is even more beautiful that in the pictures. Angelo and Martina were wonderful hosts. Don't miss using the pizza oven -worth the euros to have Angelo spend 3-4 hours firing it up (a hot and messy job!). We found pizza dough at the larger grocery store near the train station - it's sold in long rolls in the refrigerated section, not the dough balls I was expecting.
We had absolutely everything we needed either at the villa or within walking distance - including the oft-mentioned gelateria at the end of the drive. Cappuccino bar is just a little further up the main road on the left. Another don't-miss is the walk through town to the 180 degree overlook. There's not much in town itself (no touristy shopping for example) but it's unbelievably picturesque.
A few notes/recommendations:
This property is so charming and truly ancient in some parts. However, the inherent unevenness of steps/flooring and frequent level changes in the house made it a little treacherous for those with mobility issues, especially in the middle of the night. Not a criticism, just a note for those who might need to worry about that.
The beds are hard. There's no way around it. I should be used to the Italian standard mattress by now but....ouch.
No way to avoid a car rental. The drive down the hill to either the A1 or the train station is about 15 minutes and not walkable. We found that there was more variety and frequency of trains if we drove to Orvieto train station - about 20 minutes away. Orvieto should be a required stop regardless for anyone visiting this part of Italy. One of the most spectacular towns in Europe."

"We stayed here in August and the villa worked out perfectly for 9 people. There were two families with Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. The cousins ranged in age from 17 to 24 and they found plenty to keep themselves entertained for a week. There was plenty of room for all of us to gather but also space if someone wanted some quiet time alone. The beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed the beautiful views, the swimming pool, the bocce court, the orchard with fresh fruit, and the fresh vegetables/herbs from the garden. The family that owned the winery next door was extremely friendly and even took us on a tour of the winery and conducted a private tasting at no charge. The owner of the villa, Anna, was always available and helpful whenever needed. The town of Castiglione was only about a 5 minute drive from the villa and had really great shops, an old castle to tour, wonderful restaurants, etc. We went to Pisa and Florence during our trip but actually had more fun at the local places. Everyone in our party cried when we had to leave. The house is rustic but that is also part of its charm. I would highly recommend this villa."

"One word: Perfection. This Villa is a gem. The setting is wonderful, relaxing, and helps create the perfect vacation. We used the farm house as our home base for easy day trips to Orvieto, Rome, Florence, and Cinque Terre and absolutely loved coming back "home" to it every night. Torre San Severino is a quaint village and Bruno's market has everything for enjoying meals on the lovely patio. We sat by the pool each morning and soaked up the beautiful views. Can't wait to return."

"We spent our first summer holiday in Italy in the fantastic farmhouse of Maria and Heikki. Climate was awesome, the house, garden and swimming pool were wonderful and regularly cleaned. No question was too much for Maria and Heikki. They showed us around in the area, gave us tips and tricks for site-seeing, shopping and dining. We drove quite a few kilometers but all villages and cities were fantastic to visit and we made beautiful pictures. And in the evenings we enjoyed the swimming pool, the garden and the nice Italian food. Thank you very much !!!!"
