"A wonderful tranquil place, wonderful views looking out pass the swimming pool, the olive grove, the valley, lake and hill towns beyond. The villa had everything we needed. It is close to some of the best hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria. Katia was so helpful and energetic, making sure everything went well for us. I would recommend it as good base to enjoy holiday in Umbria and Tuscany."

"We visited here in June and weather was great! We only had 2 couples at the house and it was very nice to enjoy the area and the house itself. It was nice to have the windows open and night and hear the various birds through the night and early morning. Yes that is a cuckoo bird you hear. Be sure to plan time in your stay to just relax and enjoy it. We made some great pizza in the stone oven. Several good cookbooks supplied that you can have some fun cooking and still experience some good Italian food and wine. Would love to return to the area again. We were able to do a few 'day' trips to Assisi, Orvieto and of course Todi. We had read on one of the posts about Daruta for the ceramics and that is a nice little adventure to shop. Some really nice cantinas to experience some of the local wines. First class accommodations. I am glad we were able to stay here on our first visit to the region. We hope to be back and bring more friends and family to enjoy the house and the area. As far as transportation you will need a car in this area. Highly recommend and all-wheel drive auto if you can get one to help navigate the gravel roads."

"We have known Panicale for more than 20 years, and it never disappoints us. Our 1st stay at 'the Artisan's House' was delightfully comfortable and the apartment provided a charming base in the heart of the village. Our 'old friends' at Bar Gallo and Ristorante Masolino supplied excellent Umbrian fare, and the warmest of welcomes. We will be back soon."

"First, the good:
The apartment is, especially compared to most Italian rentals, huge. After being in much smaller accommodations for the first legs our trip, the additional space was a treat. The apartment is also within an hour of Perugia and most other sights in Umbria, which makes sightseeing easy. The per night rate is good.
The apartment is very well appointed and itself quite pretty. The kitchen is like Disneyland for people who like to cook. The views from the balconies are lovely.
The communication with the landlord (an American) is excellent, the tips for where to visit very helpful.
And a few potential downsides to consider:
Narni is, for better and worse, not tourist town. There's little to see there compared to other towns in the area, and it's a touch grimy compared to other towns. That said, the lack of tourists means the town is nice and quiet. Few folks in stores speak English. There's more of a feeling that you're in a "real" Italian town.
The beds are very soft, which could be a problem for some.
The apartment does not have air conditioning, which could be a problem in a hot season. And the wifi is inconsistent, requiring frequent rebooting.
All told though, we very much enjoyed our stay."
