  • The Perfect Escape

"We just returned from 10 days at "Domus Gratia"--a house I can only describe as perfect in every way. The setting is remarkable--atop a high hill overlooking a national park with long views in almost every direction. (Talk about sunsets!) The enclosed property is equally remarkable--beautifully landscaped with trees, perennials, annuals and flowering shrubs, and filled with quiet areas for reading or exploring. And the main house? Four large en suite bedrooms, a huge kitchen (with a stand-out stove), two extremely comfortable living rooms and a huge dining room. (There are also three outside dining areas with tables and chairs.) The bedrooms and common areas couldn't be more inviting or appealing. Add the irresistible swimming pool on the property and the top-rate staff and you have all the makings of a great vacation. We certainly did, and will definitely return!"

  • Paradise on earth

"We stayed 12 days in this beautiful property. What else can I say that this place is a little heaven on earth. Everything is available to be comfortable during your stay. We were with 9 people and each family had his privacy when needed. Domenico is a lovely caretaker and always available when needed. We enjoyed the great pool, the nice kitchen, the jaccuzzi, the lovely bedrooms. The kids were over the moon. I dear to say we didn't have a bad moment during our stay. Hopefully we will have the luxury to get back to this lovely place in Umbria."

  • serene haven in central Italy

"Having visited Todi and the surrounding area on several prior occasions, we can state unequivocally that Casa del Gelso is the finest, most comfortable and peaceful place to stay anywhere in Umbria or Tuscany. Its location allows travel throughout the central regions of Italy, always returning to a quiet scenic vista. It is an easy walk up the hill to the ancient city of Todi where people-watching, dining and exploring are unlimited."

  • A Taste of Heaven

"What does one say when you come across a physical space that embraces you, renews you and makes it oh so easy to live. Il Conventaccio is a most special and remarkable place to be. I cannot thank the owners sufficiently for the care and effort and vision they had in restoring this 12 century convent property from it ruinous state into the elegant and comfortable home that they have. From the minute you arrive you can only gasp at the beauty of the entire surroundings as you sense the peacefulness within the walls and throughout the land on which it sits. Five of us had ventured from the US for a two week respite and we found a taste of heaven. There is nothing in Conventaccio that was done without great thought and in the most exquisite of tastes. The area is charming and enchanting as one of the many hill towns with its own unique individual history and storied past. All that you read regarding the home's spaciousness and comfort is true but the words cannot capture the deep sense of place and peace it evokes as you spend time there. The mornings are simply wonderful as you awake to the dawn and the sun shows its face, the birds sing, and the neighboring bells begin their toll. You arise to see a stunningly beautiful Umbrian landscape from your window which is calling you to greet another beautiful day in Umbria. Simply breathtaking and the owners have many kind recommendations along with the gracious assistance of their caretaker which makes your stay at Conventaccio so very easy and one which will beckon you to return. WOW"
