  • What a fantastic and breathtaking view

"The villa was perfect for our needs including every facility necessary for a comfortable stay, the photos don't do the location enough justice as it really is set in the most stunning and breathtaking location - we woke up every morning to the glorious views over lake Trasimeno and thought that life couldn't get any better! The property is clean, maintained and so convenient for both Panicale and Paciano. Above all the lady who manages the property was beyond helpful, a joy to meet and simply able to provide so much valuable help about the local area. I would definitely come back and urge others to explore this amazing region of Umbria."

"This apartment was beautiful, spacious, and clean. It was also very ideally located in the city of Orvieto. The apartment had everything that you would need. Sabrina was very helpful and a great host. She was available if needed. The air conditioner was in perfect working order. The beds are very comfortable as well. At night it was very quite. Overall, I was very pleased with this exceptional rental and would definitely stay again."

  • Gorgeous house in gorgeous Spello

"My wife, her sister and I had 3 lovely nights in this lovely property and found it exceeded our expectations in terms of quality, fixtures & fittings as well as location. We visited Gubbio, Perugia and Assisi and also enjoyed the Hispellum Festival that was actually on in Spello during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend Desiree's lovely house to anyone planning to visit Spello."

  • A Taste of Heaven

"What does one say when you come across a physical space that embraces you, renews you and makes it oh so easy to live. Il Conventaccio is a most special and remarkable place to be. I cannot thank the owners sufficiently for the care and effort and vision they had in restoring this 12 century convent property from it ruinous state into the elegant and comfortable home that they have. From the minute you arrive you can only gasp at the beauty of the entire surroundings as you sense the peacefulness within the walls and throughout the land on which it sits. Five of us had ventured from the US for a two week respite and we found a taste of heaven. There is nothing in Conventaccio that was done without great thought and in the most exquisite of tastes. The area is charming and enchanting as one of the many hill towns with its own unique individual history and storied past. All that you read regarding the home's spaciousness and comfort is true but the words cannot capture the deep sense of place and peace it evokes as you spend time there. The mornings are simply wonderful as you awake to the dawn and the sun shows its face, the birds sing, and the neighboring bells begin their toll. You arise to see a stunningly beautiful Umbrian landscape from your window which is calling you to greet another beautiful day in Umbria. Simply breathtaking and the owners have many kind recommendations along with the gracious assistance of their caretaker which makes your stay at Conventaccio so very easy and one which will beckon you to return. WOW"

Umbria Travel Tips

The Green Heart of Italy--Umbria

Famous for its wonderful wines and sumptuous olives, Umbria Italy villas are perfect choices for visitors wanting to explore the real Italy. Located next to its more famous neighbor of Tuscany, this landlocked region boasts so many ancient towns and cities that it is impossible to describe each one. The weather ranges from mild winters to warm dry summers.

Getting into the Heart of Italy is Well Worth the Effort

To get to Umbria, fly to Rome and choose either the high-speed railway or rent a car to fully explore this historic area. Airlines such as Al Italia and Delta provide flights from most U.S. international airports to Rome. Another option is to fly to London and then to Perugia in Umbria. The main towns of Umbria include the regional capital, Perugia and Assisi, Citta di Castello, Bastia Umbria, Terni, Gubbio, and Foligno. These towns and many others possess a unique charm and character all its own. You'll find even more unique character in Umbria Italy vacation rentals.

From Buzzing with Life to Peace and Tranquility

Visitors to Umbria Italy vacation rentals will discover a beautiful region--an unspoiled jewel dating from medieval days. With so much on offer, visitors may wonder where to start. A good place may be at Assisi, at the Basilica de San Francesco. This monument to St. Francis is one of Italy’s most famous Renaissance churches. The views over the valley below and mountain backdrop make this a "not to be missed" part of any trip.

In Gubbio, with lovely pink houses with terracotta roofs, visitors discover a determinedly medieval city which prides itself on its history. The regional capital of Perugia is a buzzing town with wonderful restaurants and nightlife. While here, visitors may want to explore Lake Trasimeno for a swim, windsurfing or some sailing.

This region is steeped in history. When planning a sightseeing trip, visitors should consider the Rocca Maggiore castle, the Church of San Pierto, dedicated to Saint Benedict, dating back to the 10th century. The Palazzo dei Priori (Priori Palace) is a medieval palace that is a must-see.

When planning a trip here, allocate some culture time and take in some of the variety of museums. With so many, no matter where your chosen Umbria Italy villa is located, you are bound to find several close by. The National Gallery at Perugia includes several famous masterpieces and the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria is another not to be overlooked. For more up-to-date culture, try the Gallery of Contemporary Art at Spoleto or the Civic Museum at Gubbio to see the famous Eugubine tables, seven bronze plates dating from the 2nd century BC.

Do not be fooled into thinking these beautiful, historic towns and villages have nothing to offer after the darkness falls. Whether it is romantic dining al fresco by candlelight in a medieval square followed by a quiet stroll through ancient streets or dancing the night away, you will find it here. Theater-lovers will enjoy discovering the Communal Theater Todio, the Lyric Theater, Sant Eufemia, or one of the large selection of theaters around the area.

Shop till You Drop near Umbria Italy Accommodations

Two major local products in the region are excellent wine and scrumptious chocolate. For wine, why not buy direct from the Tenuta Poggio el Lupo Winery, near Orvieto? For chocolate-lovers, head to historic Perugia lodging. If you are planning a trip in October, the "Euro-Chocolate" festival will be a chocoholic's dream! For mementos and gifts, explore the many markets. In Spoleto, the monthly market provides great gifts or the Bastia, Piazza Mazzini market sells everything from Italian ceramics to wonderful antique jewelry.

Why Choose an Umbria Italy Villa

The freedom afforded by renting a home rather than being tied to the restrictions of hotels provides travelers the space to relax after a wonderful day of sightseeing, shopping, and exploring the region. These villas come equipped with everything necessary to make a comfortable and home-like environment and the opportunity to live an Italian lifestyle for your vacation. What more could anyone want?
