"The apartment was clean and comfortable, quite functional although sparsely decorated. It was perfect for our short 2-night stay, and I would definitely consider booking for a longer stay in the future. Neshell greeted us promptly on arrival at 4 pm. The short walk from the boat stop to the apartment without crossing over any canals was a welcome pleasure after traveling all day. The one flight of stairs up is narrow but we had no trouble with our luggage (large backpack + small carry-on each). If you have rolling luggage, be prepared to carry up and down. We liked the location, just on the fringe of the heavy tourist area, close to everything but quiet at night, and we felt safe. We didn't use the kitchen but found it was well-equipped. The air conditioning, washing machine (bring own detergent), and wifi all worked flawlessly. The TV channel selection is limited but it wasn't an issue for us. The full bathroom (toilet, bidet, sink, shower, washing machine) is next to the first bedroom (large bed, more queen than double). The towels provided were nice and large. The shower was very good although the caulking is showing wear and the door was a bit off its track. The half bathroom (toilet, sink) is off the second bedroom where our teenagers slept in twin beds. There were no plumbing or water issues. As agreed, Neshell arrived promptly at 10:30 am on the final day to check the apartment and return our deposit. She was pleasant, quick, and efficient, which we appreciated!
After settling in, we left to explore and get dinner. A hard rain came and we ducked into the restaurant at the beginning of the street (just across from the Arsenale boat stop to the left of the street leading to the apartment). Our teenagers loved their pizza, my dinner salad was huge and delicious, and my spouse said his pasta Bolognese was excellent, and our server was delightful! St. Mark's Square is an easy 5-minute walk away. From there, we easily made our way through the side streets to the Rialto area where we crossed over and then explored our way back with the help of a map and signs on the buildings. The streets are confusing but it's fairly easy to follow signs and know you're going in the right direction. We took a gondola ride one evening ($100 euros) which was pleasant in spite of a light drizzle starting about halfway through. Each day, we explored, stopping for meals, shopping, and gelato whenever the mood struck. Our stay in Venice was truly delightful!"
