  • Magnificant!

"Having been to Venice a few times before, we opted to find a nice place on the Grand Canal for about a week's stay. I searched and found this extraordinary palace, yes palace with a dock on the canal. To our right we saw the Rialto Bridge, acroos the canal a 'secret' place that was abuzz with quests arriving under cover of night. Two to four per shining white taxi. We counted at least 20 such taxis. We also witnessed 'Phantom of the Opera' production with the final scene in front of us. My husband loves to cook so naturally he made most of the food for the four of us. We toured and we toured. St Mark's was excellent as was a personal tour of the Murano factory. Yes, my husband did buy me a gift that I helped desgin. It will be at our doorstep in Arizona just before we get back home in mid-November. We had such a fun time on the dock, singing to the guests in gondolas and the many many passer-bys. The 'palace' was excellently maintained and the library shelves were well stocked. My husband enjoyed all the art work, especially the photo of an elderly lady and next to her the 'door into the past/future'. We did not have any problems once we figured things out. Overall it was an excellent apartment, fitting of our 'palace' in Venice."

  • Flo and family

"The listing for this beautiful property was clear and comprehensive with a wide selection of accurate photographs. Twice a week cleaning and change of linen in the spacious and well equipped bathrooms and pretty bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a large table to seat 8, leading into an elegant drawing room with a wide selection of CDs and DVDs, made this a most comfortable and luxurious place for our family of 9 to stay. An extra bed was provided for the ninth person. The large garden of many acres is full of playful statues, the canal and Colombaia perfect for picnics and a football pitch and where we had freedom to walk and picnic at will. The private garden with swimming pool was perfect for us all, including two small children, with lots of sunbeds, a shady table, towels and toys. The Loggia is a delightful place for lunching and drinks, and lots of parking. Our hosts were charming and so helpful and kind and keen that we should feel totally at home in their delightful house. This is a particularly relaxed and welcoming place to stay. There are all the obvious places to visit but the local villages and Treviso are worth exploring. For anyone interested in the history of the Veneto and to experience a Palladian villa at first hand this is the place to stay. We loved it and would highly recommend it."

  • Venice gem!

"My 17 year old son and I spent a week in this lovely apartment. It is perfectly situated to explore all of Venice. It is a stunning property filled with old world charm and modern amenities. The decor matches the pictures exactly and it was presented to us in immaculate condition. The kitchen is fully stocked, not only with all the necessities but many culinary extras including a nice set of knives. There are also pantry staples which were so helpful for the night we wanted a simple dinner at home. There are multiple grocery options, some steps out the front door and more comprehensive choices within a three minute walk. The apartment is less than very easy a ten minute walk to St. Marks Square. This is a fabulous option as everyone tells you the best thing to do in Venice is get lost. We explored the entire city using this concept as we knew without a doubt we could always find our way back to St. Marks and thus home. The immediate neighborhood around the apartment is MUCH less congested than closer to the square. There is foot traffic and there are many shops but it has a true Venitian neighborhood feel. There are also two fabulous restaurants right at the end of the street. One is Olivia Nera and the other is the Tratorria that has the most marvelous fish. Make reservations as you head out for your morning adventures! We had excellent communication from Mario throughout the rental process. He was instantly responsive to all inquiries and provided a wealth of information about Venice, transportation, the apartment and the arrival process. We took the Alilugana water transport from the airport and we were met at the terminal stop by Jeanette. The process described for our arrival worked perfectly and she was very friendly and gracious. She showed us to the apartment, gave us information about the ammenities, city water taxis and showed us how to find the grocery. The apartment has a very safe and secure location. It is located on the fourth floor so be prepared to carry up suitcases. There is a locked private entrance to the building located down a short passageway. Once you reach the apartment there is a locked door to a vestibule and a locked door to your apartment. The vestibule was the perfect safe place to store luggage the day we checked out. I have used VRBO for apartments for the last 15 years in locations all over the world. I have never been disappointed in my choices, but this apartment ranks in my top three. Loved it!"

  • Wonderful Welcome to Italy

"Venice was our first stop on a multi-city tour of Italy, and this apartment was the perfect landing spot! Marc patiently and promptly answered my email inquires before our arrival, and Elisabeth prepared the apartment for us beautifully. The apartment is spacious and attractive, with plenty of space for gathering as well as separate spaces for all six of the travelers in our group. My mom was especially happy to see the bathtub in the downstairs bath! The kitchen was compact and so well arranged we found it very easy to prepare breakfasts and snacks. The apartment was a little outside the main tourist area, but the walk was very manageable even for my parents in their 70s. It was just as attractive as the pictures in the posting. We have rented through VRBO in many places, but this one stands out because of Marc and Elisabeth's exceptional hospitality. In addition to Marc's prompt and thorough communications, Elisabeth did a wonderful job preparing the apartment for our arrival. It was the most thoughtfully stocked of anyplace we stayed, with coffee, juice and wine in the kitchen and a big bowl of fruit, and bread for our first breakfast. There were lots of towels for the bathrooms, plenty of dishes and glasses and supplies. Marc, if you ever tire of your day job you would make an excellent innkeeper! We hope to stay here again sometime."
