  • Loved everything about this apartment

"Absolutely perfect for a single person. Spacious, but cozy. Location is ideal. Quiet, but close to best bakery/coffee (Tonolo), Campo Santa Margherita (fruit, vegetable & flower vendors), and the marvelous sestieri of Dorsoduro, Santa Croce & San Polo. Kitchen is small, but one can easily prepare simple meals. Tiny washer is very functional. Giorgia is kind and friendly; will answer questions & respond to inquiries, but otherwise leaves you alone. If you want to comfortably enjoy your stay in Venice, and have a sense of what it is like to live there - this is the place for you!"

  • Home away from home

"We had a great stay in Antonio’s apartment. He met us at the water bus stop, helped us with our luggage, pointed out everything we might want to know about the surrounding area on a map, and even left us a bottle of wine. He was also available to answer questions by phone or email throughout our stay. The apartment itself had everything we needed, from hot water to paper towels to a lot of blankets (although it wasn’t cold). The location couldn’t have been better: it’s just off of the small Campo San Barnaba in the Dorsoduro district, with several restaurants (and a gelateria) just a 30-second walk away. There were enough people around for us to feel safe at night, but it’s not on the beaten tourist track and was perfect when we needed a break from the crowds. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Antonio!"

  • Nice Apartment on Quiet Street in Venice

"The price and location of this apartment was what really sold us on booking it. The apartment is not too far away from the main areas of Venice, but it is just far enough to get away from the crowds. Everything was smooth relatively smooth getting to and from the apartment, however, when we arrived, the waterbus drivers were on strike so we had to take a more expensive water taxi. The only other hiccup was we ran out of toilet paper and there were no other spare rolls to be found in the apartment. If they were there, they were hidden extremely well. Doubt this happens often, but it was an inconvenience to us. Overall, the apartment was as advertised and meet our needs. We would stay there again if traveling to Venice."

  • FANTASTIC!

"What a great apartment and location. The owner Mario was so easy to communicate with, always answering emails quickly and providing us with accurate information and easy instructions to find the apartment. On arrival Elisa met us and went through everything we needed to know regarding the accommodation. She also provided us with details regarding water taxis, gondola rides, local supermarket and good restaurants to eat at. The apartment is well appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is light and airy with a lovely outlook over the street and a garden at the rear. It is an easy walk to all of the main attractions of Venice. We only wish we could of stayed longer. I would highly recommend this apartment and we hope to return again for a longer stay."

Venice Travel Tips

Getting to Venice

Venice is a well-known European vacation destination located on the northwestern coast of Italy. Known for its waterways and magnificent architecture, it is a city that is easily accessible by land, air and sea. The Marco Polo International Airport is located approximately four miles outside the city center. The airport hosts most major European airlines as well as other international airlines on regularly scheduled daily flights. There are also several low-cost regional European airlines that have frequent flights into Venice.

If traveling from North America or other parts of the world, you may need to route via Rome, Milan, Frankfurt, London or one of the other major European hubs. If you are already in Europe, you may consider driving or traveling by train to Venice. There is good road access with a number of main highways and arterial roads. There is an extensive rail network that links Venice with the rest of Italy and Europe. High-speed intercity trains are a convenient way to travel and often more affordable than flying. Venice is a major European cruise port. Many cruise ships start and end their itineraries in Venice. Others simply stop off for a few days before moving down the coast to other Mediterranean destinations. Smaller private yachts often dock in Venice; if you have your own tender, you can independently explore some of the canals.

Benefits of Staying in Venice Apartments

Venice is the type of city you want to be able to explore at your own pace. There are so many different places of interest, including beautiful churches, canal-side cafés, museums and art galleries. Staying in a vacation home allows you to get a glimpse of the real Venice. Tucked away in side streets, above bakeries or bookshops, the apartments are often quite compact but still comfortable. Furnished in elegant Italian style, it’s like having your own private hotel suite, except it’s more affordable and has a kitchen so you can do your own catering. Shop for groceries at the local store and get freshly baked bread, cheeses and cold meats from the local deli. By the end of your stay, you may never want to leave.

Venice Travel Attractions

It’s difficult to take in all of Venice’s attractions unless you plan an extended stay in the city. There are a number of historic landmarks that are must-sees and some Venetian activities you must do. Most people associate Venice with romantic gondola rides through the canals. While they may seem a little touristy and they are quite expensive, they are still worth every cent, especially if you have that special person sitting next to you. The Piazza San Marco is a place where locals and tourists gather en mass during the warmer summer months. There are a number of expensive cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy a cup of coffee. The Basilica Di San Marco is a cathedral located just off the square and a magnificent example of Byzantine architecture. It is a place that houses many religious relics plundered during the Crusades. The Grande Canal is Venice’s main waterway. There are ferries and cruises that can take you up its 2.5-mile length. The ferries stop at various points on either side of the canal. There are a number of bridges that cross the canal. The most famous is the Ponte di Rialto which dates back to 1591. For more than two centuries, it was the only pedestrian bridge across the canal. This area houses many shops and food stores, and is great for browsing.

Visitors to Venice

Venice has a romantic reputation because of its beautiful architecture and rich cultural heritage. In truth, anyone who enjoys European history will love Venice. It is a destination that gets very busy in the peak summer months of June and July. If you don’t like crowds, plan your travels in spring or autumn.
