  • Loved the location!

"My family of four spent the last week of March here and loved it. Holly is wonderful--so easy to reserve through Paypal. She met us at the flat and spent time with us acclimating us to it and area. She sent an email midweek to be sure all was fine and she even sent us an email on Saturday to be sure we knew Daylight Savings Time started that night (weeks after the US!). The unit is a basement apartment but still bright during the day. There is no picture of the second bedroom--it is large with a queen bed and a twin with trundle underneath so 6 can sleep very comfortably in the flat. Living room has a door which came in handy when my kids watched a movie late at night--I couldn't hear it from bedroom. Kitchen also had a door to block out washing machine or dishwasher noise. Unit has fully equipped kitchen--I used electric pot to make my coffee every morning. Washer/dryer came in very handy--she now has the manual right there to figure out how to use it. She has a mobile phone you can borrow as well as umbrellas and many guide books. Location is great--Gloucester Road tube station less than 10 minutes away and large Waitrose Grocery at station. The unit is so quiet, you'd never know you were so close to main roads. Many great restaurants in area too as well as bus stops and stop for Hop On and Off Big Bus. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • A great week

"We travelled the city extensively using a T 10 bus passes. Not to be missed view the Parc Guell and the Montjuic area. Coming with a teenager son he was not bored for a moment!- The beach is easily accessible, with those amazing waves . The apartment is so convenient with a balcony that allowed how to watch the world go by, after a day of waling and sightseeing. Local restaurants were really good and very friendly. Barcelona is truly a beautiful city and we can see now why so many of our friends have visited it. Belinda, Tim and Lewis"

  • You couldn't ask for a better Owner to rent from in Roma!

"Myself, my husband and our 13 year old daughter stayed at Eliana's Home in Roma for 3 nights. It was a short stay in Rome, but a BEAUTIFUL place to stay. If it wasn't our 1st time in Roma, I would've LOVED to stay inside the apartment more, relax and explore the neighborhood, and talk more with Eliana. Eliana is an AMAZING hostess. She was SO thorough, detailed, and I don't think there was ONE thing that she didn't think of - she has EVERYTHING you need in that apartment and/or can tell you exactly where to go to get whatever you need. She is the sweetest person and I appreciated ALL of the little touches in the apartment. It was SO clean, very comfortable. Being able to use the laundry was SO great too - just keep in mind they dry on clothes racks/or clotheslines there so you have to wait for your clothes to dry. But her balcony gets a lot of sun so your stuff should dry in no time! :) This apartment is closest to a bus stop (Bus 49) which takes you into the Vatican area where you can catch other Metro stops/buses/walk to different parts of Roma. Please note, if you do decide to take the Metro stop closest to her house (Metro A) you will walk about 10-15 minutes to get there. And KEEP IN MIND that while the metro is the fastest & easiest way to travel - after a long day of walking and exploring you will NOT want to walk this route back to her house at night. You will be so tired, that walking the many blocks uphill is not fun. It's perfectly do-able when you are fresh and ready to go in the morning but at night I recommend you take the bus if you can. Once you get home you are in heaven but getting there after a long day can be a pain. Also, it is not a location that you can come back & forth to during the day. Plan on leaving in the morning and coming back at night. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again. You can't beat all that Eliana provides - she really is an "all inclusive" deal - with a HEART OF GOLD to boot! I am 100% pleased with our trip and experience with Home In Roma!!! :D"

Malta Travel Tips

Getting to Malta Vacation Rentals

Malta's international airport is located between the villages of Luga and Gudja on Malta Island. In terms of travel distance, the airport is a 10-kilometer drive from Valletta. To get to and from the airport you can make use of the efficient public bus transportation system. Taxis are also available for private transfers. The best way to get around the islands is by using the buses and ferries that make up the public transport system. The ferries connect the islands of Malta so you can go on day excursions and hop across to the other islands. One of the best ways to see the island's attractions is to hire a scooter or bicycle from one of the local tour operators.

Visitors to Malta Lodging

Malta is a popular European vacation destination because it offers a warm climate and is easily accessible. It is a destination for sun lovers and people who enjoy a wide variety of water sports. It is also a treasure trove for those with an interest in ancient history and culture.

Malta Travel Attractions

The surrounding warm Mediterranean seas provide many great water sport activities. For scuba diving enthusiasts, there are many excellent reefs and wrecks to explore. For almost all dive sites, you need a permit to dive so it's preferable to arrange your diving through a local dive charter company. Other popular water sports activities include sailing, snorkeling and Jet Skiing. If you want to explore the island's interior, take a horseback riding excursion that will take you to see ancient and historic sites. The Marsa Sports Club has an 18-hole golf course as well as tennis courts, squash courts, saunas and steam rooms. Many of the resorts have windsurfs and boats that you can hire.

Malta has a deep and detailed history, and many international conflicts have taken place here through the ages. Today, the island is a wonderful blend of varied cultures and traditions. The many local museums host interesting exhibits. Many of the museums and historic sites really bring the history to life. Every Sunday at the War Museum at Fort Elmo, the locals dress in period costumes and perform a military parade. At In Guardia and Alarme, you can see similar historical reenactments which are both interesting and entertaining. If you have an interest in archeology, then a must-see is The Museum of Archeology which has exhibits of artifacts that are believed to date back to pre-historic times. The entire island has recently been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the many ancient ruins and historical sites. At St. Paul's and St. Agatha's churches, you can visit the ancient catacombs. The most impressive of the sites are the 7,000-year-old megalithic temples. The Ggantija Temple is believed to be the oldest freestanding temple in the world.

Seasons to Visit Malta

Malta is known for its many sunshine hours throughout the year. The peak travel season coincides with the European summer vacation time which is during July and August. Even though this is the hottest time of year in Malta, visitors can be seen out on the beaches enjoying the warm weather. The weather remains warm from May through October so if you want to avoid the crowds, you can travel earlier or later in season. As the season starts to turn, strong winds from North Africa which are known as the Sirocco winds tend to increase the temperatures and humidity levels, keeping the weather unusually warm. Most of the rainfall occurs during the winter months and the temperatures remain mild. This is generally the low travel season.
