"Usually when you are renting an apt. online , if you are lucky enough, it is what you see, is what you get. Often this may work against you but, in my case ,what you saw online was not what you got! It was 10x better!!!!!!! The apt. from the moment I got there was so thoughtfully & professionally done. Every thing you could possibly want is at your finger tips. Paolo was the perfect hostess with food, fruit, drinks, sweets all personally chosen for me. It was better than staying in a 5* hotel. The apt. in itself is beautiful, clean, and so comfy! I walked every where with no problem. If you had any questions or needed anything( I certainly did not!), Paolo was right there. He was very personable & Edy was so helpful with my bags etc. My whole experience was unbelievable and then to top it off, I was invited to Paolo's parents house for drinks and canapés!!!!! Who does this ????? His parents were so charming & hospitable. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I could go on & on but, it is suffice to say, if you are going to Florence for any length of time you have to stay in this new luxury loft. I was there for over 3 weeks & was sorry to leave when I did! Marcia Los Angeles, California"

"My parents and I came to visit my sister in Lucca to celebrate my mother's birthday in the second week of August. Since my sister lives some distance from the centre, I decided to stay in a central flat. Booking was very easy and the owner very helpful. My family was extremely happy with the accommodation and the central location was perfect for sightseeing (including the Contemporary art museum which is well worth a visit). They were very comfortable indeed (me too!); air conditioning was more than sufficient even in a warm week. A bottle of wine and a vase of fresh flowers on the kitchen table was much appreciated on arrival. Lots of kitchen and bathroom supplies were also provided which was unexpected and most welcome. Excellent supermarket 2 minutes away and take-away food places besides the many restaurants in the area. The flat is extremely well-equipped - right next to the most famous winery in town. We loved the location, the equipment provided and the apartment itself. The rooms were comfortable and the apartment so clean, spotless and beautiful! Internet connection was efficient and fast, we never had any trouble getting connected. We also had a great meal at the restaurant down the street - one of our best in Italy! We would certainly book to stay here again and would recommend it wholeheartedly to friends."

Netherlands Travel Tips

Finding Your Way to the Netherlands

The main travel hub in the Netherlands is Amsterdam. Schipol Airport, which is located on the city outskirts, is the fourth busiest airport in Europe. The airport hosts both domestic and international flights from Europe and many other parts of the world. There are many direct flights to Amsterdam from the major cities in North America. The airport has good rail and road links to Amsterdam and the surrounding communities so getting to your travel destination is easy. Rail is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to tour the Netherlands. Almost every town and city has a railway station and frequent train schedules. In the cities, there are also many local metro trains and buses that provide public transportation. If you enjoy being active on your vacation, one of the best ways to explore is by bicycle. The Netherlands is one of the most bicycle-friendly destinations with marked cycle paths and detailed route maps for getting around. Because the landscape is relatively flat, it is is not strenuous work and you can cover quite a lot of mileage in a day.

Visitors to Netherlands Accommodation

The Netherlands is a destination that has a wealth of cultural attractions. Anyone who has an interest in European history and culture will have great fun exploring the many historical sites and museums. If you enjoy walking and cycling, the Netherlands is the ideal destination for you to explore independently. If you decide you have had enough exercise for the day but have still not reached your destination, you can simply hop on a bus or train to travel the remaining distance to your destination.

Those with an interest in art will want to spend some time in Amsterdam where famous painters like Rembrant lived. The Netherlands is considered a very modern society where there is much tolerance for all different types of people. Many activities that are illegal in many other parts of the world are practiced openly. If you are a more conservative type of person, be aware of where you are exploring so you don't find yourself getting offended.

Netherlands Travel Attractions

Most travelers spend their time in the four main cities, namely Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. These cities are the most populated parts of the Netherlands and contain many of the major cultural and historical attractions. Amsterdam is a city filled with beautiful architecture, interesting museums, scenic canals and many coffee shops. It is the main travel destination within the Netherlands. The Hague is a historical city and the residence of the Dutch Royal family. It is also home to the international judiciary. Utrecht has a beautiful historic center and several interesting museums. Rotterdam is the most modern of the Dutch cities and known for its vibrant nightlife.

Favorite Time of Year to Visit the Netherlands

The Netherlands is located in the northwestern part of Central Europe. It has a relatively temperate climate owing to its flat landscape and proximity to the North Sea. Winters are cold and wet although rainfall occurs throughout the year. The summer days are generally long and warm, and ideal for touring and exploring. Accordingly, summer is the peak travel season. June and July are the busiest months of the year but the weather is typically warm from May through September. The landscape is green and interspersed with orchards, fields of flowers and quaint towns. If you are traveling to the Netherlands just for the culture and history, you can choose your travel season. While the weather may not be ideal, most museums remain open all throughout the year.
