Domodedovo International Airport has regular commercial flight connections with almost all continents, including Australia and Africa. For some long-haul destinations, travelers may need to route via major cities in Europe or the Far East, and from there get an onward connection to Moscow. The other two airports near Moscow are the older Sheremetyevo International Airport, located 18 miles northwest of the city and Vnukovo International Airport, located 17 miles southwest of Moscow. These two airports serve primarily domestic and regional destinations in Asia.

Russia has a cold continental climate with extreme freezing temperatures in winter and a short and mild summer. Unless you don't mind the icy weather, it is recommended to travel during the warmer summer months of June, July and August. This is also the peak travel season in Russia so it is advisable to make your travel plans well in advance and have some sort of structure to your tour itinerary.
