"Our stay at Villa Capella was a trip of a life time. The Villa itself is beautiful, peaceful, luxurious, and has everything you would need, plus over the top comfort. 500 years old meets 2015 without missing a beat, you feel the history while staying in a beautifully renovated home. Our hosts Jude and Richard were most gracious, and people who felt like friends from the minute you met them.
Walking around the extensive gardens and unique grounds every day we always found something new and breathtaking. The views from the property reflected to us the three borders of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio that Villa Capella situates. From various views around the property you see a tall forest stand on a beautiful escarpment setting, rolling hills, farmland, and mountains with a Castle on the top to boot. From completely relaxing on the terrace, to walking on the hiking trails that hook up with the Villa, or to the accessible pool at the neighboring Villa, it is a perfect retreat.
From the Villa we went on easy day trips to historic towns, such as the phenomenal Sorano, Pitigliano, and Orvieto. Spent a day at the beach at Lake Bolsena, then drove around all of the lake taking in the memorizing landscapes and stopping at scenic Ports along the way. Also spent a day sunning and swimming at Playa del Torba, a beach on the Mediterranean Sea, with time to spare to take scenic routes home. Wineries were often along the routes, something to see in this landscape, with special destinations for tours. Enjoyed a thermal spa which anyone could access. Then driving through the countryside, with all of the various landscapes, Medieval Towns, castles and forts... priceless.
All of these day trips were easily accessible from the Villa, and there were many other close adventures we could have done given more time. Jude and Richard have maps and GPS destinations loaded and ready to go for guests, to make finding places you would like to see very easy. The town of Acquapendente is just down the road which is beautiful in itself, and a very handy spot for supplies. When leaving the Villa we were on our way to Rome, and were there within an hour, Villa Capella is in a perfect location for seeing many areas of Italy.
Villa Cappella and Italy will remain in our hearts forever, thank you so much Jude and Richard.
Sincerely, Wendy and Ken"
