"Our family of 4 spent 2 nights in Lynn's apartment - just a 10 minute walk from the castle and very centrally located to all major sights. The apartment is cozy but has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Lynn is very helpful in helping get you settled in - even providing some basic supplies for the first morning's breakfast. The area is just outside the Old Town - and the apartment is in a relatively new apartment building around the corner from the Hilton and close to several mini-supermarkets and numerous cafes. Not as fancy an area as New Town, but OK. Pictures in VRBO are quite representative of the place."

"My husband and I shared this apartment with another couple. The apartment was clean and spacious. It had everything we needed for our stay, including coffee, tea and a fresh carton of milk. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. When sharing housing with other people, it was really nice to have 2 1/2 bathrooms. I would recommend this apartment to anyone."

"We really enjoyed this apartment, which was central to all we needed to do, and was generally quiet EXCEPT for garbage pick up at 6:22 am (on the first morning we had a chance to sleep in), followed by road construction for about an hour.
The bedroom is very tight and we both bruised our shins trying to get around the bed to the closet. There was no full length mirror and no well lit mirror with space to do hair or makeup, which was tough when we had a formal wedding to dress for. We generally found the lighting inadequate for comfort or for detailed work (like mending a hem in the evening, or doing make up).The kitchen was economically but adequately equipped, and everything we needed was available.
We were met early by the owner's Mother, who let us in around noon to get some sleep after our flight. We really appreciated this! The nearby pubs, restaurants and coffee shops/bakeries were all excellent. The biggest issue was parking, which had to be paid every 4 hours during the day, was expensive, and the car had to be moved regularly (except for Sunday!). I would not recommend this apartment for visitors with cars. The entrance hall was not well lit, and the old stone stairs were predictably not completely even, so this is not an ideal location for anyone with vision or balance issues, or unable to handle stairs.
The owner was generally prompt in responding, and was helpful (though it was all by email, as we never met her)."

"If it were possible to give the Pilrig House more than 5 stars, we would. We have travelled, extensively throughout the world, renting houses and apartments, and have never been as pleased and impressed as we were with the accommodations and hosts as we were with the Pilrig House. The only negative is that we think that our future lodgings will pale in comparison to the Pilrig House. The apartment was spotlessly clean, furnished beautifully and fully equipped to meet every possible need. The location was perfect, too. It was outside of the city, in a park, and within walking distance to all of the main attractions in Edinburgh. A large supermarket and good restaurants are just a few blocks away. Debbie and Philip were warm, friendly and helpful. Philip offered to drive us to different places during our stay and had great stories to share about Edinburgh’s history.
We could list all of the supplies that were available in our apartment, but all we need to say is that it had every possible item anyone would ever need!
We loved our visit to Edinburgh and will always remember it as one of our best trips."
