  • Excellent location and comfortable stay

"My husband and I stayed one week in this perfectly located apartment. The building is full of character and the loft studio with its high beamed ceiling, bright splashes of red in the décor and bookcases full of reading material made you feel right at home. Plus there is an awesome view from the windows. It is on a busy street and therefore noisy if the windows are open, but we slept fine with the windows closed. There is A/C but we did not need it as our stay was the first week in November. A very comfortable queen bed (but do watch out for the corners of the platform bed as I banged myself a couple of times despite trying to remember to avoid the corners). There are basic dishes, pots and pans and utensils in the kitchen plus a great Italian coffeemaker (which we love) as well as a hot water kettle and regular coffeemaker. My husband is quite an excellent cook so he made several wonderful meals in the kitchen, plus we ate all our breakfasts there. It is small but workable. The frig is a nice size and the owner had a bottle of water and carton of milk there for us plus a bottle of wine on the table. There was also coffee in the cabinet. Martin was our contact/check-in person and he was wonderful to deal with and very responsive to questions we had before arrival as well as the owner (Derek). We arrived on a Saturday (which was a holiday) so we got simple breakfast supplies at a small grocery about half a block from the apartment. There is a large department store (El Corte Ingles) just across from Placa Catalunya which has a huge and wonderful supermarket in the lower level and we shopped there for most of our groceries as well as getting seafood and great mushrooms at the marketplace on the Rambla. On Sunday morning, we discovered there was no hot water but we got immediate response from both Martin and Derek and on Monday morning Derek arranged for a repairman to come to the apartment (nothing can be done on Sundays...kind of like everywhere in the world). They ended up needing to replace the hot water heater and by early afternoon, they were done and gone. When we returned Sunday evening we found a box of chocolates on the table and a bottle of cava (bubbly) in the frig as a thank you from the owner for being there for the workmen. That was a nice gesture. We ate wonderful tapas at Tapas 24 which is just a couple blocks from the apartment as well as great pasta at the Pasta Bar in the old city. There are 2 metro lines right there."

  • Would stay here again.

"Spent 4 nights in Barcelona with my wife and another couple. The location of this apartment is convenient and you can walk to a lot of places. We walked to old town Barcelona (about 20 minutes) and walked back in one evening. The apartment was clean and adequate room for 4. Very close to Sagrada Familia (5-10 minutes walking)."

  • Characterful property in fantastic location

"This is a fantastic apartment in a brilliant location & was the perfect choice for our 'girls getaway' without the kids! Perfect blend of a beautiful characterful building with internal mod cons in a great part of town. It has a gorgeous little balcony over looking the lovely, atmospheric & fairly lively street outside, sitting looking out here with breakfast or an evening drink really made you feel part of Barcelona. The apartment is situated in a charming, buzzy, part of town, with loads of good places to eat, drink & shop etc, & with easy access to lots of popular tourist spots too. The steep, narrow, internal staircase to the second floor of the building means it might not be ideal for very young children or adults who struggle with stairs, but it was ideal for our 35-45 age group & we will def be back, some are already planning to return with their families. The owners were friendly, helpful & easy to deal with too - highly recommend!"
