  • Great apartment in friendly village

"Even leaving aside the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, this would still be one of the best apartments that we have stayed in. It was very spacious indeed, lots of room to relax, the beds were very comfortable, the whole place was spotless, and the kitchen was very well equipped. Although it is on the main street of the village and very handy for everything it was very quiet. It is only 5 minutes or less to the railway station and a minute to the bus stop. There are loads of books and DVDs for bad weather, and the WiFi seems to work well. There is a nice sunny garden to sit in, which we used as the weather was fantastic while we were there. Kandersteg is a reasonable size village with supermarkets, specialist shops and a tourist office, but seems a lot more friendly than other Swiss villages we have stayed in. The Oeschinsee area is absolutely beautiful, although at that time of year there is not a lot of walking available there, but it is worth a day even if you are not skiing. The Sunnbuel area and the Gemmi Pass are definitely worth a visit, although we were surprised at how busy this area was, perhaps due to the amazing weather. You can reach other beautiful places, such as Lotschental, very easily from Kandersteg via the wonderful Swiss transport system. It is definitely worth researching the travel passes available well before you come since some can only be purchased outside Switzerland. The owners can advise on good walks and trips. We were in touch with them before arrival and they were very good at addressing any concerns. If we asked for anything they got it for us immediately - I don't know how they could have been more helpful, but they were never intrusive. We fully intend to visit Kandersteg again, and will certainly stay at this apartment."

  • Check this place out!

"I recently stayed in this apartment while on vacation with my family this past March. This apartment was very easy to find and I found it very centrally located if you need to reach other Swiss cities or have to cross over into France or Germany. I found it to be a perfect place to wind down after a long day out.. The owner, Paula, keeps her place very clean and has equipped the unit with very nice amenities and personal touches. I felt right at home when I arrived! It's extremely quiet at night and is in a very safe location. It is surrounded by many decent restaurants and cafes as well as a grocery store. I particularly liked how close this apartment was to the supermarket (less than 3 min walk!) I highly recommend this place. Paula, was very flexible and extremely accommodating to my travel situation. In short, she was super to work with."

Four Valleys Ski Area Travel Tips

All Season Fun and Activities at Four Valleys Vacation Rentals

The Four Valleys area is one of Switzerland’s premier winter skiing destinations. It incorporates the towns of Verbier, Bruson, Evolene, La Tzoumaz, Siviez, Nendaz, Thyon les Collons, and Veysonnaz. When staying in the Four Valleys, you will have access to 192 individual ski runs of varying levels. In total, you can enjoy 412 kilometers of downhill skiing and snowboarding. There are 92 ski lifts providing access to the mountains, and most of the ski runs are higher than 2,500 meters. This ensures good snow conditions throughout the season. The majority of runs are intermediate and advanced so it suits more experienced skiers. There are also a number of challenging off piste options. Ski schools help novices find their feet on the slopes, and kids' clubs ensure the youngsters have loads of snow fun. There are numerous other activities such as tobogganing, snowshoeing, alpine hiking and cross country skiing available.

In the summer months, the area is transformed into a lush green wonderland, complete with wildflowers and berry bushes. Hiking trails abound and there are several challenging day hikes which take you up close to the peaks. Mountain bikers can choose from hundreds of kilometers of trails that ascend the mountains and traverse the valleys. Riding is challenging and can be technical in places but for the enthusiastic mountain biker, the terrain is perfect. If you would like a bird’s eye view of the Four Valleys area, sign up for a tandem paragliding or hangliding excursion.

Getting to Four Valleys Ski Lodging

The main international hub for accessing the Four Valleys area is Geneva. Geneva International Airport hosts a wide range of international and regional airlines. There are daily scheduled flights that operate from other cities in Europe, as well as in North America. If you can’t find a direct flight, you may consider routing via Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris or London. Geneva is approximately a two-hour drive from the Four Valleys. Transfers can be arranged or you can hire a car. Like the rest of Europe, there are excellent rail links and this is possibly one of the best ways to travel between destinations. You get to enjoy the scenery without the hassle of traffic and effort of having to drive.

Stylish Swiss Comfort at Four Valleys Chalets

Most of the chalets in the Four Valleys are Swiss-style, multi-story, A-frame homes. Sturdy log homes are well insulated and provide a cozy haven from the chilly winter temperatures. The larger chalets have between four and eight bedrooms and can accommodate groups of up to 16 adults. This provides an affordable option for a group of friends who want to enjoy a skiing holiday together. The interiors of the chalets are stylishly furnished. Compact yet functional kitchens provide all modern appliances to assist you in your vacation catering. Comfortable living areas provide the perfect places to relax after a busy day out on the slopes.
