  • The place I call home away from home

"I've been coming to Villa Espana for nearly 20 years. Obviously we rented almost every bouse on the property but definately have my own favorite, which number I wont disclose for purely selfish reasons, but you understamd, no? Easily 4 times a year we pack up the cars with food, kids, dogs and head down the border. It's a bit of a ride since we are in LA but every time is an adventure. We bring out friends here and our families. MY particular house is absolutely amazing especially new things that happen very nearly. Brand spanking fridge blew me away. WiFi password right there on the door. How cool is that? The rooms and bathrooms imaculately cleaned. All you need to bring is your own towels. Last Friday night we got there at 10pm, an hour later then planned and I literally started crying it was soo good to be back there. I consider it my home now. The prices are extremely low for staying in the house that is actually on the beach! Im feeling blessed everytime Im there. Little tips on what to bring: Towels/beach/bath. I always bring my own frying pan and a pot. Not all houses have BBQ on their patios, so plan on bringing one too. The local store Calimax is just up the street from the house. One can get anything from there but we are trying to stay loyal to the locals so we buy from them. The casas themselves are very authentic. My favorite, still not mentioning the number, has the most carefully hand picked decor that reflects the respect for the culture. Beds are comfy, the master bedroom has the most magnificent view!!!! Toilets are clean and stuffed with toilet paper. Overall, I love love love Villa Espana! Once had a problem with one rental, i addressed it and Boom! Now its all fixed and very pretty! Going back in mid May. Nancy! I need that house and about 3 more, the Russians are coming!!!!!!"

  • Just what we needed!

"We spent a week here in April and it was everything we wanted! The casita is actually the upstairs apartment of a gorgeous estate home. Very private and decorated beautifully. (Don't think "garage apartment" because it is definitely not!) We ate breakfast on the balcony everyday, overlooking the Bay of Ensenada - and enjoyed incredible sunsets each day with our private happy hour on the terrace, literally overhanging the pacific straight below. Fantastic views from all directions. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing, no-schedule or crowds kind of vacation, and that's exactly what we got. We've done the Mexico resorts and love the Caribbean, but this had a totally different feel to it. The views on the pacific coast are phenomenal, and we enjoyed exploring the area each day. The local restaurants in Punta Banda offered amazing fresh fish and local Mexican fare that rivaled any fancy resort restaurant we have ever been too, and for a fraction of the price. Jannika was a most gracious hostess, answered our many questions, and gave us tons of suggestions for local sites and activities. The neighborhood was super quiet and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We just happened to hit there the night of the annual community HAT PARTY at Gordito's in La Bufadora, where we made friends with local ex-pats we kept running back into all week. We are not into the tourist scene, so otherwise bypassed La Bufadora. Our favorite spot ended up being the spectacular, private beach just below Jannika's house. To get there required 4-wheel drive, a short hike, and a climb down a rope to the sugar-soft white sand below. Took a little effort and planning to get there, but once there we had the place to our selves. If you do it, pack in your cold beverages, snacks and a good book. You will want to stay a while! The only thing I wished for was warm water for a good swim. It's the Pacific, so don't expect the bath water of the Caribbean! But it truly is a beautiful and unique spot and we would definitely go back. (Note: I probably would not go here with young children because there is no easy, convenient beach access. If you enjoy resort-style conveniences, this may not be your thing. But for adult couples who are looking for relaxation and adventure - this is your spot!)"

  • Beautiful home in great location

"The house, the location and country club were amazing. We had everything we needed or could ask for. The owner was very accommodating and ensured we we had the necessities. Location of the home was perfect for our stay and we all really enjoyed it. It is not too far from town yet far enough to get away. It was a nice and relaxing place to stay! Thanks!"

  • The Best Beach House

"We have stayed here about three times. We adore this house. It is very spacious and very well maintained. Our children enjoy the beach and the jacuzzi. The service people and owner are very helpful. We love the tranquility and peace this house provides. Nice great get away. We love that it is away from the busy city. We always have felt very safe here. This house is a jewel!"
