"This house is technically a few rows back, but the way the houses are set up leave this house actually on the second row. Its a great spot, especially if the weather isn't really hot because it is shielded from the wind. Gaviotas is a great place for families, we have stayed many times. The only negative about this particular house is that it really is sparsely equipped, so bring most of what you will need (salt and pepper, sponge, dish soap, dish towels, etc). But all in all, a clean, comfortable and well situated home in gaviotas! I also found the owner very easy to work with. Enjoy!!"

"I was a little worried about going to Mexico. Heard stories about crime, drug cartels, corrupt police... Once I set foot into Las Gaviotas my worries washed away in the beautiful surf. Trips into the city also put my mind at ease. Felt perfectly safe and loved that we were in another country after only driving about 45 minutes out of San Diego. Casa del Bombero was AWESOME! We were there for a family reunion and all who stopped by to check the place out were impressed with how big and spacious it was. The deck is super large and views are perfect. It's situated very near clubhouse, shuffleboard, pool, and jacuzzi. You can sit out on the spacious deck and hear the waves crashing. Furniture is large and comfortable. Flat screens in living room and both bedrooms. Master bathroom is giant. The onsite manager was SO helpful and checked in with us a couple times to make sure everything was going well. There is a phone in the unit that gives you free access to calls to US. Free wireless! The permanent residents at Las Gaviotas are SO friendly! The only bad thing about Casa del Bombero is that your vacation will eventually come to an end and you'll have to leave... The day we left we were already making plans on how to get back there as soon as possible!"

"This property was perfect for our family of four plus my father-in-law. There is a downstairs unit that has its own entrance, bathroom and television. Nice if you have a mixed group and want a little separation/privacy.
Upstairs is a Spanish style dream with nice tile and art work, a very open plan, spacious bedrooms, kitchen and two bathrooms. The French doors open up onto the upstairs deck with a fabulous view. At night you can see the stars, palm trees and water for a classic paradise type view.
We enjoyed being able to walk to a great surf spot, and we bought fish locally which we cooked on the gas barbecue. Good times! By the way, the grounds at Las Gaviotas are beautiful, with a very clean and un-crowded beach, nice common areas and walkways, etc. The owner has redone all the interiors, making the home seem brand new inside. It's very attractive and roomy.
It just so happened to be very hot while we were there. The ceiling fans helped with this, and I have a feeling that this was unusually warm weather for Baja Norte. Speaking of the Baja Norte area, we went shopping in Ensanada, visited La Bufadora (interesting but a real tourist trap), and we had a lobster dinner in Puerto Nuevo. The fish we bought was from the outdoor market in Pupotla - a real experience buying fish from a small boat and fishermen who don't speak much English. I highly recommend this if you want to experience a little bit of the real Baja.
My only reason for giving four stars instead of five is that the home is not ocean front. That would be much nicer, but it also costs more to get those places! The houses are very close together, so you can hear your neighbors. None of this bothered us at all, but it should be noted.
The owners were extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with!"
