Overview of San Felipe Vacation Rentals
Getting to San Felipe Vacation Houses
While San Felipe has an international airport, no commercial flights currently operate from it. The airport is open for charter flights and as many as 20 flights land a day. Most visitors come from Southern California and drive the five hours from San Diego down via Mexicali to San Felipe. If you are traveling from other parts of North America or Europe then your closest commercial airport will be in San Diego. From there, you can hire a car and drive the remaining distance to San Felipe. A regular bus service operates between Tijuana and San Felipe and is the only mode of public transport available.
Visitors to San Felipe Beach Houses
San Felipe tends towards a leisurely pace. It’s a great place to come, relax and simply get away from busy corporate life. There is a growing population of retirees in San Felipe who are attracted by the warm climate and relaxed atmosphere of the town. If you like to take leisurely strolls on the beach and enjoy sailing or boating then you will have a great stay in San Felipe. It’s a welcome change from busy resort-type towns, even though the city still receives a steady stream of tourists year-round.
Things to Do near San Felipe Resorts
Most people enjoy doing as little as possible during their vacation in San Felipe; however, the warm ocean provides the perfect place for a wide range of activities. Boating is a popular pastime and there is a launch ramp that can be used at the harbor. Moorings can be arranged if you will be staying for an extended period. There are no crane facilities so only smaller boats can be launched on the slip. Many larger yachts sail south from San Diego and the vision is that the Baja Peninsula can become a popular destination for yachtsmen from North America. There are several sailing regattas that take place in season.
Take a drive south from San Felipe and visit the geothermal springs in the small retirement community of Puertecitos. The springs are located right on the rocky shoreline and often too hot to sit in unless the tidal waters are high enough to cool the spring water down. If you do find the temperature moderate enough, the pools are wonderfully relaxing.
The miles of white sandy beaches are perfect for beachcombing and leisurely strolls. Occasionally, you can come across a beach bar where you can enjoy a drink and light meal while looking out over the ocean. The town of San Felipe has a strong shrimp fishing heritage and many of the local restaurants still serve a wide range of delicious seafood on their menus. Dining out is a great experience. A festive atmosphere, good food and plenty of drink are usually the order of the day.
Seasons to Visit Baja California Norte Vacation Rentals
San Felipe enjoys a warm year-round climate, not unlike Miami. The summer months are hot and humid and the winter months are warm and dry. During October to March, you can expect clear sunny skies with moderate temperatures of around 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. In January, the occasional storm blows south from California. Most of the rainfall occurs in the humid summer season. August and September generally record the highest rainfall levels as tropical storms blow across the Pacific Ocean. The rain showers accompanying the hurricanes tend to be intense and short-lived, and these tropical storms usually only occur once or twice a year. For the majority of the year, you can enjoy sunshine and a laid-back atmosphere.
