"The combo of spring break in Cabo and staying at this top floor villa was perfect. We have been to other areas of Mexico with our children (14, 13 and 10), and by far, Cabo felt the safest and most welcoming.
Two large bedrooms were fantastic for kids. Our youngest opted to sleep on the pull out couch in the living room.
The balcony is the most amazing part of this unit. The view is gorgeous (it is the main photo for this listing). There are two lounge chairs that were the most coveted seats for our family. The breezes that you get up there, particularly later in the afternoon and evening, were wonderful. Every time that we were in the condo (breakfast, showering, happy hour), we were all out on the balcony that extends from the master, to the living, to the guest room. It runs the full length of the condo.
We spent some time on the balcony watching our kids in the pool. You couldn't do that with younger ones, but ours were fine.
We had friends stay the Palmar and thought the properties were very, very different. The Palmar had tons of little kids, looked super crowded around the pool, and everything was super wet.
Estancia's pool area is beautifully landscaped, and chairs are set up in different areas, which ends up offering much more privacy and a luxury feel to the property. Our friends from Palmar came into our property several times, but NOTE they cannot bring in their towels from the other properties. That is a huge red flag and the pool manager will tell them they need to go up and register as a guest on your account. It took about 5 minutes to do this, no big deal.
We bought breakfast food from Walmart (simple, easy trip), usually ate lunch at the pool and then went into Cabo for dinners.
The beach is considered "non-swimming" but we swam. My impression is that basically from Estancia to the east, the waves/undertow were too dangerous to swim. However, from Estancia to the west (to Lands End), it was safer and super fun. For the first 3 days we were there, the waves were huge (some about 10'). My kids and I went out into the swimming area with other avid beachgoers and had a ball. You just had to pay attention to where you were in relation to where the waves were breaking. The beach is steep, and within a handful of steps into the water, you are over your head. For our entire week stay, the "red" do-not-swim flag was posted at Estancia. However, no-one stops you."
