  • Classic style, lots of space and great location

"The three of us – Canadians in various stages of retiring – spent two weeks in early March enjoying the colonial-style, three-bedroom Casa Abuelita. The location is great – just a block from the marvelous, five kilometer Malecon along the sea front and excellent places to eat and drink within steps and a short walk of the house. La Paz is a fabulous place to fish and explore the spectacular sea life of the Sea of Cortez. Thoughtfully the owner has reserved an ‘exclusivo’ parking space for tenants right in front of the house well demarcated with cactus planted to note the space. We were happy with each of our spacious bedrooms and their creatively decorated ensuite bathrooms (although a bit more light around the mirrors and showers would be appreciated). Being used to the most common shortfall of holiday house rentals – ill-equipped kitchens – we were very pleasantly surprised at the kitchen’s ample counter space, helpful center island and extensive appliances. The only bleat would be a repeat of a previous tenants concern that we had to stock the kitchen from scratch – surely previous renters have left spices, sugar, etc. A large open-plan dining room and living room (with cable-connected flat-screen television) completes the floor plan in a house that has excellent flow of indoor and outdoor space. The most appealing feature is the secluded courtyard where we spent many hours relaxing, drinking, reading and enjoying the peace and quiet. The outdoor space also has its own washroom and laundry space. Unfortunately the plunge pool was not functioning for most of our two weeks due to a missing part that finally arrived with a few days left. We enjoyed it for those last few days, and received a reasonable discount on the rental in recognition of its non-functioning status for most of our stay. When we needed our drinking water replenished or minor repairs performed the house support staff responded kindly. The bottom line? We would have no hesitation in recommending any of our friends and family choose Casa Abuelita for their stay in lovely La Paz."

  • Excellent Condo

"Stayed at the Costa Baja Condominiums overlooking the Marina....unit 301....found it through www.vrbo.com....the owner's very easy to work with....we stayed 12 nights and although I've been going to La Paz for over 20 years, this was my best vacation. I don't think I can go back to Hotels after this experience as it was very relaxing and easy....everything is made to make life easy for you...there is a laundry facility with workers to wash and fold your clothes....we had a weeks worth of clothes done for about $10.....there is a small general store there for you so you don't have to go into town, which is very convenient.....also, there is a list of recommendations for restraints and activities....the beach club which is right on the beach is within a 5 minute walk.....don't get the condos confused with the hotel....the condos are owned by individual people and doesn't have anything to do with the hotel...you will have a blast."

  • Nice one-bedroom.

"Everything in the suite is as pictured. It has a well-outfitted kitchen, plenty of closet space, and the extra, half-bath is a plus. You'll appreciate having a car, as the walk up and down the hill is significant. We had a bit of trouble trying to 'negotiate' the tub/shower without getting water all over, but that is a design issue by the builder. The view from the windows and terrace is great. Rosa was so very helpful and genuine. It was a pleasure to meet her."

  • Perfect escape! Spectacular sunsets

"We had a fantastic time at Paraiso del Mar! We could not have asked for a more special location or a more spectacular house. It was the perfect escape from the stress of day-to-day life for us. La Paz is very serene and full of natural beauty. We saw some incredible sunsets. The house has all the comforts of home (cable, internet, wine glasses etc) but a charm that is unique to Baja. We loved driving golf carts around the property. Not having a car made it feel like we were truly on vacation. We dined at the pool bar often. The food was fantastic, especially the shrimp tacos. We also hit some golf balls at the driving range ($10 for balls and clubs) and kayaked around. When we wanted a little more excitement, the transportation drivers were great at arranging a sport fishing trip for us. Biggest catch of the day - a 45 lb rooster fish! Food in town was also great. Our favorite was Rancho Viejo, which was just a block from the marina. I have to say, the pictures do not do this property justice. It is much more special than any camera lens could ever capture!"
