  • Little Bit of Heaven

"I felt that Dhorea wants her guests to feel the love that is in this casita. My husband and I are still here and appreciating every last moment in this very special place. We will be here 6 weeks and could have stayed longer! The casita is close enough to the malecon and all the "in town" activities, yet far enough away (15 - 20 min) so that we enjoyed our privacy and our own little tranquil place. We sit in the living room or front yard and listen to the waves at night - magical. (Admittedly, we also take advantage of the English speaking cable TV!)We so thoroughly enjoyed taking the private, outside steps to our very own viewing patio on top of the casita! One can bring a picnic up there - there's a place to sit and eat or lay on the chaise(s), just rest, read or bring your art materials! Star gazing took my breath away, amazing. The showers are phenomenal - great pressure and my tall husband can stand straight under both of them! The décor/ambience is much more than a picture can provide. The shaded porch outside the master bedroom is a lovely place to sit, meditate and appreciate the garden view. EVERYTHING you might need is in this charming place. I could tell you about the kayaks, (great!), the walks along the bay, peaceful, and so many other things we have experienced, but for the price, you WILL NOT find anything comparable! We can't believe it isn't more expensive. Dhorea, your host, is one of a kind. I could go on about how delightful she is but you have to experience her intuitive way of being available and so thoughtful yet not intrusive in any way. She was extremely helpful BEFORE we arrived and when we had some difficulties with our car rental and arrived very, very late, she came into town so that we wouldn't even have to locate our place... we just followed her! She is a real vacation gift! And her "helpers" Dora and Daniel ... also wonderful! Even if she hires other people I am sure they will be as terrific as those who are here now. I have used VRBO for years in many other places and the "Little House" is one of the very best! Thank you Dhorea."

  • The View!

"Great place to stay. We had a wonderful time! My favorite part was sitting on the deck in the mornings watching the view of La Paz and the bay. So relaxing! Fernando is a very gracious host. The property is gated and very safe. I would recommend a car, it is a little drive out of downtown La Paz, but well worth the short drive. It is very peaceful and quiet. Sorry we were only there for a few nights."

  • Classic style, lots of space and great location

"The three of us – Canadians in various stages of retiring – spent two weeks in early March enjoying the colonial-style, three-bedroom Casa Abuelita. The location is great – just a block from the marvelous, five kilometer Malecon along the sea front and excellent places to eat and drink within steps and a short walk of the house. La Paz is a fabulous place to fish and explore the spectacular sea life of the Sea of Cortez. Thoughtfully the owner has reserved an ‘exclusivo’ parking space for tenants right in front of the house well demarcated with cactus planted to note the space. We were happy with each of our spacious bedrooms and their creatively decorated ensuite bathrooms (although a bit more light around the mirrors and showers would be appreciated). Being used to the most common shortfall of holiday house rentals – ill-equipped kitchens – we were very pleasantly surprised at the kitchen’s ample counter space, helpful center island and extensive appliances. The only bleat would be a repeat of a previous tenants concern that we had to stock the kitchen from scratch – surely previous renters have left spices, sugar, etc. A large open-plan dining room and living room (with cable-connected flat-screen television) completes the floor plan in a house that has excellent flow of indoor and outdoor space. The most appealing feature is the secluded courtyard where we spent many hours relaxing, drinking, reading and enjoying the peace and quiet. The outdoor space also has its own washroom and laundry space. Unfortunately the plunge pool was not functioning for most of our two weeks due to a missing part that finally arrived with a few days left. We enjoyed it for those last few days, and received a reasonable discount on the rental in recognition of its non-functioning status for most of our stay. When we needed our drinking water replenished or minor repairs performed the house support staff responded kindly. The bottom line? We would have no hesitation in recommending any of our friends and family choose Casa Abuelita for their stay in lovely La Paz."

  • Simply Superb!

"The property is exactly as described. We found all amenities to be in excellent working order and well cared for. The Condo is nicely appointed, and the property itself is very secure and impeccably maintained. We also found the staff (Leo and Hugo) to be extremely friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying again and highly recommend the property! The views from the balcony are specular and sunsets are even better! Furthermore the community pool is very clean and comfortable and personally as it was an adult weekend I enjoy its more “quite” atmosphere. Have La Concha Hotel next door makes things very convenient for morning coffee, or meal or beverage. Furthermore, while I was vacation I do like to keep up with the office. The Wi-Fi worked very well and had reasonable speeds. Overall we were extremely pleased. ZERO complaints! And special thanks to Paul for confirming so quickly for us on our last minute travels plans.
