"My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying at Casa Torotes several times over the years and consider it our very favorite place to travel. The casa itself is a beautiful, spacious, and locally designed property that can accommodate many different "types" of vacations. It has served us as a romantic getaway (honeymoon in fact); a fishing, paddle boarding, and mango margarita drinking adventure; and most recently a relaxing trip with our new baby. The lounge chairs on the veranda of Casa Torotes provide breathtaking views to the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez that are unrivaled to many other places across the globe.
We have always felt very safe and well taken care of at the casa, largely due to the attentive care of the owners and property management staff. They are well versed in what the land and sea can offer in this part of Baja and happy to help connect you to those amenities so that you can get the very most out of your time there.
The town, La Ribera, is a quaint fishing village with the feel of an untouched Baja California Sur that provides a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There is one or two of everything you might need in the small town (grocery stores, tortillaria, pharmacia, restaurant, gas station, tire shop, tackle shop, etc).
You can utilize Casa Torotes as a launching place for daytime adventures in surrounding regions such as the Santiago Foothill Spas (39km), Los Barriles (30km), San Bartolo (47km), or Hotel Rancho Leonaro (8.5km); or you can simply relax and enjoy the beautiful casa-- no need to go anywhere!
We cannot say enough about our time spent at Casa Torotes (if you read the guest book at the home you will hear the same sentiments from all its visitors), only that it is truly one of Bajas best kept secrets. You will leave refreshed, relaxed, and eagerly planning your next trip!"

"My family and I had a perfectly lovely time at Casa el Rincon del Sol. It exceeded our expectations in many, many ways; a perfect location, a splendid house and grounds so thoughtfully designed, whales and dolphins playing in the front yard, superb snorkeling steps from the patio and bookended with soaks in the hot tub , and, best of all, a kind and friendly yet highly professional staff.
High point for several of my kids was kayaking out to within yards of a mother and juvenile humpback. High point from me was discovering that at times I could actually hear whale songs if I held my breath while snorkeling around the reef in front of the house.
We hope at some point in the future to be able to return."

"My wife and I just returned from a week at the bungalow, and had a great time. The place is a bit set off of the beach, but it is set in a nice canopied palm and scrub forest that gives it a very secluded feel. The beach is just a few hundred meters down the path, and there is only one house on the beach for a mile or so! We encountered only handful of other beach goers in the many walks we took, it is truly remarkable to have miles of white sand beach to yourself.
As Josh and other reviewers have said, this is not a place for everyone. You are very isolated, will need to climb the stairs to the sleeping loft, and there is no AC (we were there during the hottest season, and were just fine with fans). Josh was around and easily contacted for supplies or needs, but was never intrusive. You also need to love animals, because there are a lot of them around! The dogs and cats are sweethearts, and really enjoy your company without being needy.
We flyfished off the beach in morning, and caught ladyfish and Jack Crevalle, swam and really enjoyed our beach walks. If you like to really get away, and are somewhat self sufficient, you will love this place."
