  • Beautiful and relaxing

"The house is beautiful and has all the amenities. Awesome shower and spa tub! The sunrises are breathtaking and the views from the house are stunning. The beach in front of the house is rocky - best to go to one of the beaches in town to swim. Cabo pulmo, about 1 hour away, is well worth the trip."

  • Best Vacation we have ever had!

"We just got back from 3 weeks staying at the casita in Los Barriles. We didn't really know what to expect when we got there and were blown away by what a nice place it was. Dave and Cheryl could not have been warmer and more welcoming. They are truly Los Barriles legends and a wealth of knowledge as they have been coming down since the 70's. Everyone in town knows them and I think it was advantageous for us on numerous occasions that were were staying "at Dave and Cheryl's place". We stayed in the larger Casita above the garage with our 8 month old daughter. It was incredibly private and steps from the beach. There is a great view of the ocean (we watched whales while eating breakfast) as well as the mountains from the covered patio and bedroom. I was able to go kiteboarding directly from the house. I pumped up on the back patio and launched steps away. Wi-fi and cable T.V. were provided, but we were too busy having fun to use them much. The walk to the center of town only takes a few minutes. There are great restaurants, grocery stores, laundry, coffee shops, etc. within a ten minute walk. There is a smaller studio casita as well that would be perfect for friends/family/etc. to stay in as well. We took a cab from the airport directly to the casita and were able to walk everywhere in town once we got there. There was not one time that we felt like we should have had a vehicle there, but if we had one, there was a spot available that would have been perfectly safe and secure. David and Cheryl made it so enjoyable for us that we are coming back to L.B. next year for 2 months."

  • Quiet, feeling like a local.

"The casita had everything we needed for a relaxing break away from the busy-ness of a pre-arranged, all-inclusive resort vacation. We've done that, a resort is okay, but the seclusion of small-town Los Barriles is just what we were looking for. We opted not to get a car, but probably will next time...or maybe just a quad, we didn't really need a car. Instead, we had Wolf Management arrange a pick-up for us at the airport. Reasonably priced and friendly, the guys at Turis Pancho were at the airport waiting with a van for just us. We stopped a local mini-mart for a few beverages before we left Los Cabos and they took us to a grocery store in Los Barriles for some more essentials. We met up with Wolf Property folks and they checked us right in. (I forgot about the deposit, but had the cash on me which they refunded in the same cash at check-out.) Los Barriles is tiny, but we weren't here for anything but relaxation. We kept saying we'd go to town and get a car or a quad, but it took us three days to bother to walk all the way into town when a grocery store was an easy walk in a safe neighborhood. It was not a bad walk to town, we just didn't feel like bothering and Wolf said they'd have a car delivered if we wanted. Everyone took dollars at a reasonable exchange, so we didn't get pesos very often either. We'd just walk up the street for whatever sounded good (and for more limes...definitely perfected my margarita recipe...that's one tough blender!) Finally, we did rent a quad for a few days, and never felt the need for a car. The quad allowed us to run to town to eat out. Taqueria Viejo was our favorite, but Barilito was fine and the nachos at Vagos Sports Bar, where we watched the game, were excellent. We didn't go to town for the nightlife; if you want a big party, this isn't your place I've heard, but I never checked for myself. If you want to relax on the beach, kayak at a leisurely pace and snorkle for fun, it's all right here. We aren't fishermen, but did see folks fishing from the beach or from small boats. We loved the privacy, the beach was always clean and quiet. The noisiest thing was the quads, but they're just not that bothersome when you're relaxing on the beach. We loved our time in Los Barriles and at the casita!!"

  • Great little house

"We came down to Los Barriles for a quick 3 night weekend with the kids ages 13 and 16. We rented the casita and the attached back bedroom. Everything in the other reviews is accurate, Duke and Dina are very gracious hosts and Gia, the dog, is a beggar. OK – maybe we made her into a beggar by giving her doggie treats that we bought in town. She’s a fun dog. We liked the fact that the house is on the beach, comes with some snorkel gear, kayaks and everything you would need to feel at home. Kitchen is well-equipped and stocked with most basics (coffee supplies, seasonings). Satellite TV, Sirius radio, and WIFI were nice to have. The home was clean with plenty of towels and linens. Pull-out couch was fine for our 13 year old. Master bedroom has a wonderfully soft bed. Bedroom two has it’s own entrance outside of the house. Our son enjoyed having his own private “casita”. The main living area has two large sliding doors that open to the patio which is raised up above the beach giving beautiful views and a nice breeze. We set our alarms so we could wake up and watch the sunrise over the ocean each morning. You can reach town and Palmas de Cortez hotel complex by walking about 15 minutes north along the beach. We walked it once, and ended up renting a 4 person beach quad and using that to get around. The kids LOVED that. It’s a very short ride to town by car too. There’s a small tienda just a bit south of the house (5 minute walk) and a couple places to eat near there (taco shacks). If you want to get away for a quiet, mellow, slow-paced escape on the Baja Cape about 80KM north of the SJD airport, this spot is for you. Highly recommend for people who like to fish and/or ride quads on the beach. Beach is beautiful and the water is gentle. A nice swimming beach. There are not any vendors pedaling on the beach. We felt perfectly safe the entire time we were there. We will definitely be back."
