"We decided to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with 2 other families in Mexico. We had heard the fishing in this area was great, and searched for a house that would comfortably fit 16 people. Casa Alvarado was a very special place and the owners/staff made our trip extremely memorable. This lovely home is off the beaten path and highly recommend for families/groups that want a retreat where they can unwind and escape the hectic daily routine. A two hour ride from Los Cabos airport, you arrive to a welcoming staff who will shop ahead of time which I recommend as the house is fairly remote. There is a small and lovely hotel nearby in case you need something, and the staff is willing to shop and bring ice/beer/food if you run out.
I usually don't take time to write reviews, but this a special house and group of people who look after it. They go out of their way to make your trip easy, comfortable and fun. One night they cooked local Mexican food, special birthday cake and arranged for a Mariachi band to celebrate the 50th birthday.
The house has a lovely pool, lots of pool and ocean toys, EXCELLENT snokeling rignt off the beach and of course great fishing. They will help you arrange pangas or larger boats to fish for Rooster, Dirado, Snapper, Marlin... Of the 3 days we fished, never a shut out :-)
Thank you to the wonderful owners and staff of this lovely home. If you are looking for a great escape where family and friends truly connect and spend time together away from it all, this is the place."

Great beach house, excellent amenities, tons of space.
"Did some fishing with my buddies and we stayed at this house. The house and fishing operation (same owner, Mark Rayor, (http://teamjenwren.com/) are world-class. The house is fully equipped with everything you need, just add groceries and enjoy. Right on the beach, great outdoor porch with the Sea of Cortez as your back yard. Sun comes up over the water which is really cool. Excellent for guys fishing with mark or families on vacation. Mark and his wife Jen are super nice people who work very hard to help you enjoy your stay. We are going back for sure."

"Our family spent a week in this very spacious condo. We felt it was in a beautiful location and included all the amenities you would expect from a unit of the highest quality. The owners responded quickly, and upon our arrival Pedro was waiting to greet us. Any questions were addressed by him immediately. There is no question that we
will be returning. We found, even with 7 of us, privacy in the unit due to its size. To watch the moon shining on the bay at night and the sun coming up in the morning from this unit was so peaceful. Returning can not come soon enough. Our best wishes to the owners and Pedro.
P.S. Caleb's is a great restaurant and family favorite."

"We stayed at this well appointed home for 5 nights...perfect for our 40 anniversary celebration. Our arrival was earlier than expected but Duke and Dina welcomed us warmly. Dina knew it was our anniversary and gifted us a fruit bowl and bottle of tequila. Flowers from the garden were arranged into a lovely bouquet along with a sweet card that welcomed us to their home. Even Gia the darling dog popped in to say hi (they rescued her from the local dump and nursed her to good health...how great is that?!).
The home is beautifully located on a white sanded clean beach with easy access to the safe water. The patio is on the beach side of the house and became the outdoor living space for our stay. It is shaded with a palo roof and vines so even early in the day with the bright sun it is pleasant for sitting. We made most of our meals in the kitchen purchasing groceries in town at the well stocked store. The kitchen has all of the essentials. We usually dined on the patio table though the house dining table is also nice. We did not use the TV or stereo preferring the sounds of the breeze and water. Long afternoons were spent in the lounge chairs reading, walking on the beach or exploring the area by car. There is no shortage of activities if you wish to be busy.
The beds are firm with nice sheets. There are plenty of towels and beach toys. We used the tandem kayak several times. The seat straps needed repairing to allow for back support but I am sure Duke is right on that. The property is well maintained and very clean. Duke stopped in every day to see how we were. He even borrowed a Scrabble game from a friend for our enjoyment. Dina printed our boarding passes on departure day. Little personal touches made it a special stay.
The only thing that was uncomfortable for us was the ATV traffic on the beach. The sand is used as an access road to town by the popular ATVs. We heard this is illegal but the law is not enforced. It was noisy and odorous at times. I suppose if you enjoy riding ATVs this would not bother you...but we found it a nuisance.
This is a beautiful property with all the amenities to make your Sea of Cortez vacation great.
The hosts, the local people and the beautiful land and sea scapes make this place a winner!
Thanks to Dina, Duke and Gia!"
