  • VILLAS ARE THE WAY TO GO

"Staying in the Villas de Cortez gives you access to the condo pool area and also the Palmas de Cortez pool area but the Palmas people cannot access the condo area. Great first floor condo that is very well kept up. Owner was great to work with and the condo manager Pedro was always around to help out if needed. Everything is stocked here that you would ever need, they even had skewers for the pork kabobs that I made on the gas bbq. You can bring your own drinks to the pool or buy a beer at the pool bar for only $3. Vendors are on the beach if you want to do some shopping but they are not allowed on property and are not pushy at all. It's about 15 steps from your car to the front door. You can book your fishing boat at the Palmas de Cortez and I recommend Captain Raul Montano on the boat El Borracho. Wife had an excellent massage at the Spa for $80."

  • Amazing place to stay in LB!

"We've stayed at the Villas de Cortez on several other occasions but this was our first time staying in a studio unit. This is a great place to stay with walk out access to the pool and beach. The condo has all the amenities that you would want. Cary was very helpful and funny in his suggestions about the property and things to do in LB. We stayed there shortly after the hurricane and we were not sure what to expect when we arrived in LB. We were pleasantly surprised that the town was relatively unharmed by the storm and Cary addressed any little issues with the condo immediately. We would highly recommend staying at this property and we look forward to our next visit!"

  • Sunshine, whales, and lovely accomodations

"My husband and I can't say enough wonderful things about John's casita in Los Barriles. The house is perfect for two people. It was immaculate and had all the cooking and beach supplies you could need (bring water shoes as the beach can be rocky). Having access to the kayaks was the best part! We saw dolphins, sea turtles, bat rays, puffer fish... and the water is so clear that we just floated around and watched the abundance of sea life. The town of Los Barrriles is very sleepy. The grocery store is terrific, and there are a couple places to buy even fresher produce. I'm so sad to come back to our skimpy $2.00 avacados! John was a wonderful host, and we so enjoyed our sunrise chats as he walked Chloe and Pita (also lovely to have around!) If you are looking for loads of loud, rowdy people, this is not the place for you. If you love sunshine, quiet, a rocking chair just to look at the water, and whales (everyday!!!) then you will have found paradise."

  • Perfect home for 3 couples

"We rented the whole house for a week with 2 other couples (ages 30-40). Beautiful home, great location, plenty of space. We were luck enough to get the master bedroom/bath. Woke up every morning with the sunrise on our small balcony. Then, either drank coffee on the rooftop deck or on the beach - house is one house away from the beach. The two other couples each had their own rooms and shared a bathroom. The kitchen/dining/living area is separate, so if some wanted to stay up later, the noise was minimal. We spent a lot of time on the rooftop deck in the am and pm. Just a few doors down is the Hotel Spa Buena Vista. Supposedly they have recently started charging $10/day to hang out there, but we were never charged. Just walked in, ordered a drink and snacks... Although, we did not spend much time there. Spent some quality time on the beach and drove a couple times down to 9 Palms (1.5 hours on a mostly dirt road - conditions vary - only one flat tire) to surf. Great spot for intermediate/beginners, depending upon the swell of course. The house is a few miles from Los Barriles, where you pretty much have to go for groceries and dining. We rented a car for the week and it worked out great. Not sure about the bus schedule. Jeff is easy and accommodating. His paddle board was recently broken - not sure if he is going to replace - but you can rent paddle boards in town as well."
