  • Lovely Los barriles

"We just returned from 8 days in this cute trailer/casita. It was wonderful. The trailer is fully equipped with everything you need, including the all important blender! The pictures don't begin to show how wonderful the outdoor space is. Tons of birds, flowers and palm trees. The rv resort itself is also beautifully landscaped and has a great pool and hit tub. We loved sitting in the hot tub at night watching the moon rise. We had a car but as the previous review noted you don't really need one unless you want to do lots of exploring. The town is tiny and you can walk everywhere. Great food for such a small place. The trailer was spotless when we arrived and roger and Gail next door ( who manage the rental) kind and helpful. We will return!"

  • The Best Romantic Casita

"Such a delightful little gem, so romantic, cozy, on the beach, wake up to the beautiful sunrise and sip your coffee on the patio overlooking the Sea, a sky full of stars at night, absolutely paradise! We so much enjoyed our stay at the Casita De Mi Corazon! Thank you John for everything!"

  • Right on the Beach

"Location is important. This casita is right on the beach. So you can easily walk out to the ocean. The view is wonderful from the Patio. Great value for the money. The double kayak that comes with the rental made for a fun daily activity. The Casita is simply decorated but the most important part is that bed is comfortable. We rented Mountain Bikes in town and found some dirt roads with little traffic. The town nearby is small. There are some authentic restaurants. Great spot for a quiet get a way. Loved it."

  • Casa Front Row

"Casa Front Row is a spectacular home. The posted pictures do not quite capture or convey its spaciousness, its high ceilings, the beachfront views or the beach itself. The beach is much grander and very wide. The views from the deck span one end of the beach, Hotel Las Palmas, to the other, Spa Buena Vista. Ceiling fans keep the air flowing even on the calmest days. The master bathroom is enormous. Most rooms have unobstructed ocean views. We have rented many homes over the years and this one was at the top of the list. It is well appointed. The kitchen has every conceivable appliance that you would want, and all are in working order. Mark and Jennifer are responsive when you desire assistance and respectful of your privacy when you don't. Before we arrived we bombarded Mark with questions about the house and the surrounding town. He promptly, patiently and thoroughly answered every one. He and Jennifer continued to help us as needed after we arrived. We were also befriended by their two lovely dogs, Gracie and Pinchy. If the Cabo spring break scene is not your thing, you should try a stay at Casa Front Row. Los Barriles is a quieter beach town with a large and very close expat community. We met and befriended several of them during the course of our stay. Be sure take a short walk up the beach to visit Tony for an evening cocktail at Rancho Buena Vista resort. His margaritas are the best. If you like to fish, Los Barriles is the place. Mark is a renowned charter boat captain and his crews know what they are doing. He has a fishing blog which will keep you posted on the local bite. He has a reputation for honesty which, considering his day job, is not too shabby."

Los Barriles Travel Tips

Stay in Comfortable Los Barriles Vacation Rentals

Located on the Sea of Cortez, about an hour’s drive from Cabo and just 40 kilometers north of Cabo San Lucas, is the Baja California area of Los Barriles. Its year-round excellent climate ensures a constant stream of visitors throughout the year. From its origins as a small fishing village, the area around Los Barriles resorts has grown into a major tourist destination in recent years.

Catch Dinner and Grill it at Los Barriles Beach Houses

Visitors to Los Barriles vacation rentals will find that this area retains its laid-back atmosphere where life revolves around the stunning white beaches, water and waves. All along the coast, there are beaches just waiting to be discovered. The area attracts a variety of fishermen. Its deep marine drop is perfect for deep sea fishermen; the attraction is the opportunity to fish for marlin, sailfish, tuna, squid and others. The rocky coves where a variety of game fish are found will appeal to visitors. From the shoreline, fish such as roosterfish, jacks, giant needlefish, triggerfish, and many more are in abundance.

There are a wide variety of activities here. Many will find renting an ATV, packing a picnic and heading out to see the waterfall to be fun activities. Los Barriles is a big kite surfing and wind surfing area so this is a great place for those who love those sports or those who have always wanted to learn. You could also take a relaxing day at one of the spas around the town.

Many visitors here will take a day trip to experience the excellent fishing by joining one of the many boat trips on offer to Bahia de los Muertos where they fish on the way and enjoy lunch at one of the many local restaurants that cater to fishing parties. You could also take one of the ATV tours on offer, or rent wave runners to enjoy some more water fun. There are also guided horseback tours out into the local mountains, or snorkeling tours where you can learn more about the marine life of the area.

Do Something Different at Los Barriles Resorts

If visitors to Los Barriles resorts are looking for something slightly different to do, why not take a trip out to see the marker of the Tropic of Cancer? You will find it on the road between San Jose del Cabo and Los Barriles. Here, at Latitude 23, you will find a big round white ball. That’s it--the Tropic of Cancer. Also, some 18 miles to the north of the area is an unpaved coastal road, close to Boca del Alamo. Head towards the mountains and hike a mile to see some unusual cave paintings; their age and origin are unknown.
