  • Great place to relax in the sun!

"My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Jolla condominium. The apartment was spic and span and the view from the deck was as advertised. The place was well-stocked and the furnishings were charming. We enjoyed both pools and the beach as well. I only wish that we could have gone in the ocean, as I had hoped to snorkel, and that the little town was closer. We didn't have a car, so it was a bit far. That being said, we walked to the Mega grocery store, and we found plenty of good restaurants in easy walking distance. For sunning, reading, walking, and pool swimming, it is pretty well perfect."

  • Great place to stay!

"Our family spent 3 weeks at Casa Oasis. We loved the place. Our 5 and 6 year old boys were in the pool for hours at a time and had a great time as well. The house was clean, well maintained and absolutely beautiful. Being a few minutes outside San Jose and away from the noise and lights was perfect for the tranquility, the star filled skies and ocean views. We have always felt safe in the San Jose area but being in a gated community with security made us feel completely at ease. Greg was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. To state one example, he set us up with a very friendly and dependable babysitter. This allowed us to drive into town on several evenings to enjoy the great art district and many restaurants that San Jose has to offer. We give this property a very strong recommendation."

  • Costa Azul Perfection

"This El Zalate property is an excellent unit in a great complex ideally located near world-class fishing at Puerto Los Cabos, snorkeling at nearby protected bays, the historical downtown San Jose Del Cabo area and is close enough to Cabo, the East Cape and Todos Santos for day trips. The unit itself is fully stocked with just about anything you need including the patio beer fridge full of cold cerveza upon arrival. Our contact with the owner was positive from start to finish and Chris always left me with the feeling that he really cared that we had the best possible time in his home. And we certainly did. The outdoor patio of this 2-bedroom unit is the highlight as it is both incredibly spacious, has the beer fridge and bbq built-in and a view that has to be seen to be truly appreciated. We spent hours on the deck, telescope in hand, viewing the surfing down the beach at Zippers, checking out the passing boats, the jumping fish and endless lines of surf rolling in. The pool area offers needed shade and loungers while the beach is steps away making for a great daily ritual of surf, sand, pool and shade. As a family of five, with three teenagers, we will carry with us only great memories of our vacation stay at El Zalate. We enjoyed home cooked meals of the fish we caught devouring everything from sushi and sashimi to grilled dorado, amberjack and tuna and endless fish tacos. We fished, hit the surf, the pool, the town and nearby restaurants and it was all amazing fun. I've been visiting the Cabo area for 30 years and have stayed in luxury resorts and camped in the sand. This was our first time renting from an individual owner and I will say with certainty that it will not be the last. I can't think of a better overall experience and value. We look forward to visiting El Zalate again and thank Chris and Ginny Lewis for the use of their wonderful unit."

San Jose del Cabo Travel Tips

San Jose Del Cabo Vacation Rentals for the Mature

Rest and relaxation, the two necessities of vacation, are plentiful in San Jose Del Cabo, California. San Jose Del Cabo is on the Baja Peninsula of California in an area that can seem quite confusing if you have never traveled there or viewed a map. The Baja Peninsula is definitely Mexico despite using Baja California in its name. When you rent any of the San Jose Del Cabo vacation rentals, you will immediately see the difference in other vacation spots and that of Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is a hot destination for college students and young couples, whereas San Jose Del Cabo is for the more mature group. Adults who want rest and relaxation always take advantage of the San Jose Del Cabo vacation houses.

San Jose Del Cabo Vacation Houses and Nearby Heritage and Culture

Baja California has its roots in the 16th and 17th century, when Spanish galleons would drop anchor on the coast to find fresh water. Many of the ships were coming from the Philippines to Acapulco but would be unable to make it without a stop on the peninsula for water. The bays were also a prominent spot for pirates to raid ships because they were able to hide and surprise the Spanish galleons full of cargo. This led to the first permanent settlement of the Baja Peninsula. In 1730, the area received yet another change as Padre Nicolas Tamaral began the Mission San Jose del Cabo overlooking the Rio San Jose. Again the Spanish lost ground fighting with Native Indians and mosquitoes until a military outpost strengthened their hold. The Mexican American War decided the fate of the Baja Peninsula, leaving it in control of Mexico while the upper portion was engulfed in the U.S. When you stay at San Jose Del Cabo vacation houses, you will be treated to more of the heritage and culture the Mexican destination has to offer.

The Practicality of San Jose Del Cabo Condos

First and foremost, San Jose Del Cabo condos are located in Mexico which means you need a passport no matter how you enter the country. There are two ways to reach San Jose Del Cabo. You can enter Mexico at Tijuana which is just below San Diego. Highway 1 takes you all the way down to the very tip of Baja California. Your other option is to fly into San Jose Del Cabo International Airport which is eight miles to the north of the city. Taxis are available but if you want to see the entire area, you will need to rent a car. San Jose Del Cabo is spread out over several miles which means many of the attractions require a taxi ride or car. A taxi averages $15 to $30 depending on how far you are travelling, though public transportation in the form of buses is a viable alternative to renting a car or taxi as well.

Beaches and Recreation for Your Vacation to Mexico

San Jose Del Cabo provides you with fun on several beaches including La Playita. La Playita is one of the calmest layouts of sandy beach located approximately two miles south of San Jose in Pueblo la Playa. They have new public facilities with a cobbled walkway from the beach to the town and a playground for the children. Another beach, Playa Costa Azul, is better for watersports, particularly surfing. Underwater recreation can be found at Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. This is the only protected coral reef on the Sea of Cortez. Its amazing reefs hold many secrets for divers and if you snorkel, there are definitely plenty of fish to view from above. Shopping and dining are also spread throughout San Jose Del Cabo if you feel like taking in some of the local color. Your San Jose Del Cabo vacation rentals provide you with a kitchen in the event you wish to prepare your own meals.
