  • Great room, great location, super high pressure time share meeting

"So I want to start out by saying the room was great (exactly as described). The resort was in a great location, right on Medano beach and easy walking distance to the marina (we didn't take a cab once other than to and from the airport). The staff at the resort was also great. Very attentive and polite. On the less than stellar side, they REALLY try to sell you a time share (technically it is a "vacation club", but it is a distinction without a difference). I have never sat through one of these things before, so it was all very foreign to me. You go check in and then they say there is a free "welcome breakfast" the following morning that should only take 60-90 minutes, and you get all this free stuff for doing it (dinner cruises, massages, etc.). Again, not having ever been through a time share sales meeting, I just assumed this was actually some kind of welcome breakfast (stupid on my part, I know). Well, as you can guess, it was breakfast, followed by touring the facility, and finishing up in the sales room. Once there, I explained I would never make such a big decision (and we are talking about a LOT of money) without researching it first. So they brought in the "sales manager" (the whole process was very akin to buying a used car) to sweeten the deal. They kept saying "no pressure", but then would follow it up with an "if you don't take this deal now, it will never be available again" (doubtful). We went back and forth for quite a while (me continually saying I would never spend that kind of money on a whim), and then they finally gave me vouchers for the free stuff. The vouchers worked exactly as they said, so no complaints there. But the whole thing was VERY high pressure, and took over 2 hours. Anyway, I would probably stay in this room again (the room and resort were very nice), but I would definitely decline the "free welcome breakfast". While the free stuff was nice, I don't particularly want to waste a portion of my vacation dealing with used car salesmen."

  • PERFECT LOCATION and BEAUTIFUL CONDO

"My fiance and I spent an amazing Christmas week in this condo / from the moment i began my search the owner Allison was very helpful and accomodating / She arranged airport pickup (DO NOT - i repeat DO NOT stop to talk to any of the guys inside the airport unless you want to go on some timeshare presentation for discounted or free excursions or maybe even cash - go directly outside and meet your driver) and return and her Lifestyle representatives were always present to assist from day one / the driver even stopped at Wal-Mart on our way in so that we could purchase food for the week (i suggest buying beach chairs and an umbrella too as the daily beach rentals can become quite expensive)/ when we arrived at the condo it was exactly like the pictures and every thing was very comfortable, clean and lovely / we had a problem with the safe but the locksmith took care of it right away / we opted to not use it after that, but our passports and other items were safe and secure As you begin your day, step out of the building and turn to your right and the beach is less than 30secs away - turn to your left and the marina is less than 60secs away / you will not need a car at all / all activities, restaurants and excursions are within walking distance / you can see Land's End from the beach and the water taxi to Lover's Beach is right there / NOTE: the beach peddlers were the worst part of the trip - THEY ARE RELENTLESS and hopefully you'll be able to tune them out after a while / try the fried shrimp at THE OFFICE on the beach - amazing!!! We went snorkeling (bring your own goggles if possible) and saw whales - YIPPEE!!!!! / did the sunset cruise - don't need to do both / would do whale watching trip if i had my choice again / All in All - this was a perfect trip and we had a great time / I would recommend it everyone / we went home tan, rested, relaxed and wishing we had one more week Thank you Allison and Ron / see you soon"

  • Astounding Relaxation and Fun

"I can't give enough accolades about this property to do it justice. The pictures are absolutely correct in that it's gorgeous, luxurious, splendid, amazing, etc. etc. We arrived on a Friday after following technically correct instructions (but we still got a little lost in the twists and turns anyway) to Chef Ericson who was passing out delicious margaritas. They were the best margaritas we have tasted (we all agreed!). We first took a tour of the main house. We were staying with our children, my sister, my parents, and my Grandparents. My family and my sister took the three bedrooms upstairs. The AC is controlled by only one of the rooms... so be sure you have a good relationship with whoever is staying in the room with the AC. :) My parents & Grandparents took the downstairs suites. Oh my goodness, their showers and bathrooms were amazing! They loved it. The Amazing - Ericson!! You MUST hire her and have her cook a few meals for you. The same price gets you dinner + lunch or breakfast. Being served drinks, appetizers, food, dessert, and doing all the dishes... is SERIOUSLY AMAZING. Plus, Ericson is one of the best, most kind-hearted person you have ever met. The Bad - The coffee pot takes forever! (Isn't it awesome that the worst part of the review is that the coffee pot takes forever? We actually forgot to tell Greg that so, hi Greg! Maybe invest in a new coffee pot! LOL) My Grandpa would get up at 6am every morning and pour in 8 cups of coffee and after a half hour, maybe 3 cups would come out. We couldn't figure out if it was the setting, or if it was evaporating.. Anyway.) The kitchen could use a few random things to help if you cook at home but honestly you just ask Ericson and she disappears and reappears with it (like I wanted a cheese grater!) after going to the main kitchen at the next door house. When we had a few problems, we just emailed Greg. In some instances, he showed up within 10 minutes! My Mom's AC was loud one night so they came over and visited and replaced some stuff. We couldn't get the Jacuzzi working after the first night so he labeled a few of the buttons and voila, it's perfect. Say hi to the cute little iguana who lives around it, he's always there! If you have knee problems, you may want to bring your cane for getting up and down the stairs. I'm running out of room in this review... Best place ever! Check out Buzzards down the street. Rent an ATV. Visit the bird estuary. Bring bug spray. Cheers!"

  • above excellence

"We stayed at Marina Sol for 4 nights. The check-in went smoothly, Andrew from Cabo Luxury Penthouses met us & showed us everything in the unit. We even had water & beer chilling in the fridge for us, very welcome after travelling all day. (Maggie had responded to all of my emails before we left home, & answered all of my questions quickly.) Maggie also helped us with a little problem we had with water coming from the unit above. After years of travelling, I've learned it's not the PROBLEM, it's how it is RESOLVED. We reported the water leak at 7:30 a.m., and were told Maggie started work at 9 a.m. By 9:05 a.m., she was in our unit, with 2 repair men, and 1 maid with a full cleanup cart. everything was taken care of in less than 1 hr. I have to emphasize this leak came from a privately owned unit above ours, & had nothing to do with VRBO. Back to the unit...we absolutely fell in love with Casa Gran Terazza. The 60 ft. terrace overlooking the central courtyard & pool area was amazing. We had coffee on it every morning and drinks every night. 2 full bedrooms & 2 full bathrooms ensured that mom had her own space, as well as my husband & myself. The kitchen was amazing! with stainless steel appliances & a huge granite counter top. All cooking utensils, plates, cups, etc are supplied, as well as drinking water. We were told that it had been recently renovated, & it showed. My husband loved watching the Masters Golf Tournament on the big-screen t.v. with many many satellite channels, in the huge living room. The unit was clean, as well as the lobby/elevator/pool and grounds. The staff worked hard every day to clean everything. One concierge in the lobby greeted us with songs every day! The security guards at the door were always present & watchful, and made us feel perfectly safe. Marina Sol is located close to Medano Beach, a quick 5-7 minute walk. There are 2 locked access gates, close to the road leading to the beach, opened by the key that they supply. Medano Beach is the usual hectic public mexican beach, full of vendors, bars, and restaurants. A polite ''no thank you'' will work to keep them away. If we come back to Cabo, we will definitely stay at Marina Sol again."

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
