  • Comfortable and colorful casita for our family vacation

"After arriving by bus, we called the property manager, Teresa. She spoke excellent English and came to meet us, arriving literally three minutes after we called! She took us to the casita to let us in and answered our questions. The casita is just a few blocks from the center of town on a quiet dirt street. Even though we arrived at 7 pm on a Sunday, there was a decently stocked market open just around the corner selling staples and even a few fresh vegetables. There is a full produce market two blocks away and about a dozen restaurants of all levels within 5 minute walk. We volunteered at The Palapa Society (look into doing this during you stay!), a 15 minute walk to the south side of town. We walked down to the beach (La Poza, about 2.5 km each way), which took about an hour and a half on dirt roads with our little 4 and 6 year olds. I think it wouldn't be much more than 30 minutes for a group with longer legs :-) The beach was gorgeous when we got there. We had it literally all to ourselves for as far as the eye could see (low season). We were told it is not safe to swim at this beach, so we contented with carefully splashing in the surf. On our way back, the road was partially shaded by massive mango trees -- we picked up about a dozen fallen, ripe mangoes off the ground. After a good washing, they were amazing! There is also a great play structure in the town park. Taxis wait there if you want to explore further afield and don't have a car. The casita itself is in a complex with three other casitas built around a walled courtyard (the others were vacant during our stay). It was a perfect place for the kids to run around. Inside, the casita was clean and spacious. There were plenty of cooking utensils for us to do some great home-cooked meals. There was a counter with two stools for eating inside, but no inside dining table. The table on the patio seemed like a dream place for evening meals, but the summer time bugs made us abandon that idea after the first night. Screens on all the windows kept us safe inside. A/C in the one bedroom was really appreciated during a particularly hot and humid summer, though both it and the ceiling fans were loud. No bathtub, but a huge walk-in shower. It's not ultra-modern luxury, but it is a great place that is well worth the price. We would be happy to come back!"

  • Fantastic family vacation

"We had a fabulous vacation over the New Year's week in Cabo. The penthouse and whole resort was absolutely stunning and luxurious, despite some existing damage from the hurricane. Service at the resort was impeccable and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The condo was perfect for a family vacation. We had some meals in the condo and also had some amazing Mexican food at local restaurants. We had a rental car and did some touring around the area - quaint town of Todos Santos and also Los Cabos were favorites! Had wonderful massages on the beach at the resort and also an exciting SCUBA trip. And of course the New Year's Eve fireworks were spectacular. Can't wait to return!"

  • Absolute Heaven

"We had our family vacation and brought along another family and this home more then perfect. There was so much space for all of us. The rooms were very large and the home itself is beautiful. The photos don't compare to what it is. When you arrive and walk through those doors its like something out of a movie. Its amazing. I am in love with everthing this home had to offer. There was nothing we needed. We will be going back there for sure. Just perfect... love, love, love..."

  • Serenity Now!

"In a family of 20 people (ranging in age 6 months to 76 yrs), it may be hard to find some serenity now. But don't worry because you can find it in Casa Buena Vida. Our main activities were sitting on the deck reading, watching the Pacific Ocean go by filled with breaching whales, jumping ray fish, fishing boats and cruise ships. Of course this isn't the full list of activites, could it have been the pool table, the bag toss game or the pool and hot tub that were the best thing? But no... was it the beaches near by, late afternoon cocktail cruise or margaritas at Victor's. Or the hills in Pedegral that were great for jogging for all to keep in shape. Was it that every room has a spectacular view of the ocean that was so welcoming you felt like you were in your own home. Wrong again. It was definitely David the House Manager/Chef, his outstanding staff and Feliciano the cabana man that made our stay so enjoyable. From the cold beer and Margaritas to the meals that were so perfect. Hand made guacamole, salsa and chips. The beautiful surf and turf dinner for New Year's Eve so well prepared and presented. Our week at Buena Vida exceeded all of my expectations, would go back in a heartbeat. Run, don't walk to the nearest airport and come here!"

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
