  • Escape the crowds and enjoy beach-front tranquility in La Ventana, Baja, Mexico

"We traveled all the way from Hong Kong to this idyllic beach-front house on La Ventana Bay in the Sea of Cortez in La Ventana, Baja, Mexico. The house sits on an amazingly beautiful pristine beach that in one direction is a short walk into the small town of La Ventana, and in the other direction is sand and dunes stretching for miles almost without a building or other man-made structure to be seen. The beautiful house is made to take maximum advantage of the water on one side and the desert hills and cactus forest on the other with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors throughout, so that it almost flows out onto the beach. There are three bedrooms, two pools (one ocean-side and one desert-side), two hot tubs (one by the pool and one on the roof), and several outdoor eating areas. The gourmet kitchen had everything we needed. There was a small gym with beach views, and a wonderful open roof area to enjoy the sunset and margaritas. Running, hiking, mountain biking trails through the Cardon cactus forest (many of the cactus in this area are hundreds of years old) are just steps from the house and kept us in shape and entertained when we were not on the beach, or in the water paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming or kite boarding. This bay is one of the top rated kite boarding locations in the world. We took lessons from Baja Joe's just down the beach - excellent instructors and great fun. To top it off, there is also a truly helpful and knowledgeable property manager to answer all questions, help arrange tours to La Paz to swim with the sea lions and whale sharks, go scuba diving, or arrange a gourmet chef to come cook fabulous dinners. The house is ecologically-minded utilising solar and recycled water for irrigation. You absolutely cannot get better than this property."

  • Loreto bay house

"This was a clean, well appointed property, close to the lap pool, my favorite activity and close to the golf course, my son's favorite one. We did NOT rent a car but got a cab from the airport to town where we bought a weeks food and drink and topped that up with items from the nearby convenience store. Next time I would get Marco to organize the cab for me. The atmosphere was of an old spanish town, but new and clean with amazing landscaping! The beach was great too! Marco, our property manager was prompt to iron out the little glitches we had with internet ( down after a wind storm) and water ( stopped when irrigation timer broke). I would go again!"

  • A secluded paradise

"Our stay at Casa Paloma was one of our most relaxing and enjoyable vacations in the twenty years we have been visiting the southern Baja. The setting is spectacular. When we arrived, there were hundreds of Manta Rays jumping right in front of the house. Within minutes of that a pod of dolphins swam by and then to top it off several Humpback whales broached two hundred yards off the beach. The Casa and Casita are tastefully decorated and are very well equipped and comfortable to live in. The sunsets are spectacular and the beach is great for taking very long walks on. It would be difficult to find a better place for your quiet getaway vacation. Everything you need is within ten minutes by car. We will be returning."

  • Thanksgiving Gift

"We really enjoyed this condo! Neat, clean, comfortable, and almost everything we needed. Everything worked except satellite TV and Wifi, and with a teenager, there is only so much reading that can be done. It was within walking distance to beach, market and downtown. Jack was easy to communicate with, along with Esther the property manager, who was very helpful."

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
