  • Dan & Gail from Seattle

"If you are going to La Paz. This is your best option! We flew in to San Jose del Cabo airport and rented a car from Cactus rentals. This a privately owned car rental outfit and they are very easy to deal with. Everything was up front for the rental and they shuttled us from the airport (5 minutes). The road to La Paz is very nice. Take the Todos Santos route ( 19 ). You do have to watch for livestock. We arrived in La Paz and due to poor timing it was dark, so finding the ferry wasnt straightforward. The entrance to the marina is at the north end of the Malecón. This the name for the beachfront strip. Look for Stella's restaurant and you will see the marina's sign. The dock for the ferry is about 50 yards from Stella's following the sidewalk and is the first gate you will come to that goes down on the pier. I wont go into great detail about Hyland's penthouse given all of the other reviews here. Needles to say it exceeded our expectations with an expansive living area and very comfortable kitchen. Shopping is very convenient. From the marina's entrance you go to the stop sign and go right. Several miles down this road you will find a walmart which we used the first time out. It is located right at the intersection of hwy1 and the Transpeninsular road that takes you right to the Malecón. Our local favorite was the CCC market. Look for a large store with a shopping cart on the sign about 2 miles from the marina on the left. Having said this the Chilean chef, and his crew, who is on site at the condos cannot be beat! Careful... the margaritas will sink your ship if not consumed judiciously. :-) The next time we go to La Paz we will be in contact with Hyland!"

  • What a Way to Relax!

"We stayed at this condo with another couple for two weeks. It was heaven. The condo was very clean and well set up. It was on a corner so was very bright and had a wonderful wrap around balcony perfect for grilling, reading, relaxing or just watching the water, whales and beach activities. The kitchen was well equipped and organized. It had good appliances. There was internet and TV for those who wanted to stay connected to the world. The unit was very nicely decorated. The complex had two pools (one heated and one not) and had a beach area for guests. The gardens around the complex were magnificent and were well maintained. There was also 24 security. The people in the complex were very friendly. La Jolla is situated in the perfect spot. It is close enough to walk to stores and restaurants but is very private and quiet as well. You are right on the beach and can walk for miles. The weather was perfect while we were there as well. We would recommend renting a car but there were lots of buses that came by as well. There was parking right by your unit. A very enjoyable holiday."

  • Amazing! Relaxing! Great Place to call Home for a week.

"We had a great time in Cabo at Estancia. We have traveled to Estancia several times before in Nuevo Vallarta and wanted to try a new location. We loved Cabo and Villa La Estancia was exactly what we have had- simply the best! Loved the ground floor access. Room was beautiful and clean and had everything we needed. We will be back!"

  • A Place For All Ages!!!

"Thank you for sharing your villa. The place was so spacious(2100ft) and was just what we needed. We spent a lot of time on the veranda which is huge. We didn't use the large gas grill or the wine/beverage refrigerator on the veranda. We dined out every evening. We had breakfast in and lunch by the pool everyday. It was such fun taking turns swimming in the ocean and in the large pools at La Estancia. What a treat having a washer and dryer too! The grounds and the units are kept in tip top shape. The staff works very hard and they always have a smile and are willing to answer all your questions. This is an upscale part residential and part weekly rentals complex. So no wild Parties waking you up. The pool bar shuts down at dark. The complexes next door have bars that stay open late. There are several bars/cantinas that you can walk to from the beach. We took a taxi back since it was way to dark to walk back beachfront or by the road. You can walk to town(15 mins) or take the bus. Walmart is too far to walk. We had a car (free covered parking) which you really don't need since you are so close. The lockout bedroom was great so we could slip out and go to the gym without waking up everyone. There is an Art/wine Walk every Thursday evening in San Jose which is fun. We road Atv's one day close to Cerrito's Beach and then watched the surfer's ride the Pacific waves. Everything we did from reservations for dinner to daytime activities was done by the front desk personnel. John, thank your for all the tips you sent us prior to arrival. We tried to eat at all the restaurants on the list. Two weeks was just not enough time. We are looking at dates to return next summer. We sure hope one of your units are available then. Again, Thanks so much for helping us make some great family memories. Brenda, Pete, Veronica and Grandma."

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
