  • Nirvana: We found it at Casa Geneva

"A lovely home surrounded by nature. We spent a month at Casa Geneva in Todos Santos (early January to early February) enjoying consistently sunny, warm days and cool nights. The casa is stylishly and artistically decorated, immaculately clean, and very comfortable both indoors and out. We loved drifting off to sleep to the sound of ocean surf with the cool night’s breeze flowing through the window. There’s an abundance of local organic produce and fresh seafood available in Todos Santos; we cooked many of our meals and found the kitchen very well appointed. All water in the casa is filtered which is very convenient—no need to buy 5 gallon jugs or plastic bottles of drinking water. The gardens surrounding the casa are lush and beautiful–hummingbirds zip past, orioles and warblers flit through, and butterflies flutter by all day. The rooftop deck is perfect for relaxing with a book during the day, watching incredible sunsets in the evening, and at night the stargazing is spectacular. From the casa, it’s an easy walk to the beach where in winter one can watch grey whales pass by, marvel at mobula rays’ acrobatics, and see baby sea turtles released into the Pacific (google: Tortugueros Las Playitas). We're pretty active and we loved having a network of trails just up from the house to walk, bike, and run in addition to the roads that meander through Las Tunas. The casa is around 2 miles from town so was an easy bike ride or a nice long walk to grocery shop, wander the art galleries, or dine in one of the many restaurants. The mini-super next to the gym/juice bar on the way into town makes great tortillas de harina and frijoles. If they have fresh tomato tortillas pick some up—infused with flavor that one won't ever find in store-bought tortillas. Tony and Janelle are warm and generous hosts and were great to have as neighbors. They provided suggestions for dining, finding the freshest produce and seafood, tips for checking out local beaches, and info about activities in Todos Santos. On their recommendation, we caught a couple nights of the Todos Santos Music festival; we loved the small venue at Hotel California. We also hiked a trail they recommended from Punto Lobos to the old sugar cane port—a little cove with the most amazing azure water. Many thanks to Tony and Janelle for sharing their slice of paradise in Baja California Sur with us."

  • A Place For All Ages!!!

"Thank you for sharing your villa. The place was so spacious(2100ft) and was just what we needed. We spent a lot of time on the veranda which is huge. We didn't use the large gas grill or the wine/beverage refrigerator on the veranda. We dined out every evening. We had breakfast in and lunch by the pool everyday. It was such fun taking turns swimming in the ocean and in the large pools at La Estancia. What a treat having a washer and dryer too! The grounds and the units are kept in tip top shape. The staff works very hard and they always have a smile and are willing to answer all your questions. This is an upscale part residential and part weekly rentals complex. So no wild Parties waking you up. The pool bar shuts down at dark. The complexes next door have bars that stay open late. There are several bars/cantinas that you can walk to from the beach. We took a taxi back since it was way to dark to walk back beachfront or by the road. You can walk to town(15 mins) or take the bus. Walmart is too far to walk. We had a car (free covered parking) which you really don't need since you are so close. The lockout bedroom was great so we could slip out and go to the gym without waking up everyone. There is an Art/wine Walk every Thursday evening in San Jose which is fun. We road Atv's one day close to Cerrito's Beach and then watched the surfer's ride the Pacific waves. Everything we did from reservations for dinner to daytime activities was done by the front desk personnel. John, thank your for all the tips you sent us prior to arrival. We tried to eat at all the restaurants on the list. Two weeks was just not enough time. We are looking at dates to return next summer. We sure hope one of your units are available then. Again, Thanks so much for helping us make some great family memories. Brenda, Pete, Veronica and Grandma."

  • a Little piece of Heaven

"Look no further Portofino Pedregal is beyond perfect. All the perks of home and beyond. We celebrated our daughters 24th birthday with 8 people in our party. The condo was spacious, clean and beautiful. We were all comfortable from the beginning. The views from both balconies were spectacular. Enjoying great conversation and cocktails in the evening just don't get any better. The night lights of the city below were breath taking and magnificent. The surrounding view, staff and owner were top notch. We couldn't have asked for any more. The walk to town was enjoyable everyday as we saw something different daily than the day before. The walk home was a great way to walk off some of the fantastic food we experienced. Cute little shops, quaint little hidden gems around every corner, friendly and helpful locals made our trip one to remember! There was never a dull moment. We felt safe and secure at all times. We can't say enough about the condo it's self. Beautiful, homey, and well equipped and if it didn't have what we needed Alvero along with Andrew were right on it with no hesitation! We visited right after the hurricane hit and we were a little sceptical but Andrew assured us we would not be disappointed or even realize the magnitude of the damage it did as the community was working hard to restore their little town, he was spot on with that. We enjoyed every minuet of everyday. There was no disappointment at all. Portofino is our forever pick, we will look no further when we travel back to Cabo. Thank you Andrew to you, your family, and your staff for such an experience and fabulous stay. Frank and JoMarie W."

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
