  • Exceeded expectation

"We stayed here as two families of 4. We rented Casa Grande and the two bedroom guesthouse. This property is in a perfect location. We observed whales, bat rays and all kinds of beautiful sea life. The patios are extremely spacious as are the casas. The property is beautiful and the caretakers Jose and Angelita were extremely helpful and did an incredible job keeping the property clean and beautiful. Thank you, we will be back!"

"Our family, two elders (well, not really that elder, 70 and and 72), 4 kids and their spouses, and 7 of our 11 grandchildren (ages 18 months to 18 years) came together at Casa Alvarado for a week of sun and warmth and family fun. Susan was so very helpful in our planning. I must have asked her a million questions, and she patiently answered each one, so we really felt prepared when we arrived. Our family came from all over the USA plus Chile, so coordination was really helpful. All came by plane, but then we had two car rentals and the rest came via Octavio. We found we could easily have done with one car or even none. The car rates appear low, but expect to pay at least 3 times the quote by the time you buy the insurance! It makes Octavio very reasonable. We shopped on our way in, so we picked up staples at the little town of El Cardonal and never made it back to Los Barilles until we were leaving. Griselda prepared delicious meals for us several nights which were greatly enjoyed, and we had lots of fun cooking together the other nights. We, the grandparents, really enjoyed taking each of our grandchildren to breakfast at the hotel, for a little one on one time. We are big pickle ball players, and we were able to use the tennis court to play pickle ball, as well as some good basketball games. We loved seeing the sunrises, shooting stars, whales, dolphins. One day we rented several horses for a ride on the beach and one day Carlos arranged for a fishing trip for three of our guys, who brought home the bacon for dinner that night. We loved the kayaks, paddle board, snorkeling gear, and sand toys. The routine was, first time at the beach, then time at the pool, then back to the beach.... you get the picture. Perhaps the biggest hit was the ping pong table which got lots of use. We loved the set up of the house with a separate entrance for the lower bedrooms and casita. The location is very isolated (that's a positive for us), and yet there was always plenty to keep everyone happily occupied. Carlos was a dream.... always available to help us, stop and get a few supplies, arrange for fishing and horse back riding and rides back to the airport. Thank you, Susan, again for all of your help and generosity. This was truly a wonderful family gathering."

  • Outstanding Penthouse

"My girls and I loved our stay at El Encanto. The location is private, quiet, and beautiful. The condo is very well maintained, beautifully furnished, and extremely comfortable. I slept better there than at home! The views are really incredible. The beach was very private; many times there was no one on the beach. If you are looking for a nice place with beautiful views, then you have the right location. This location is very close to San Jose del Cabo; we went surfing at Cabo Surf Hotel (my daughters took a lesson at the Mike Doyle school of surfing, we ate at the wonderful Flora Farms (a must do) and we even enjoyed an evening with a chef that Maria arranged for us. We ate in regularly as the kitchen is very well stocked with cookware, etc. We also enjoyed horseback riding on the beach (horses and ATV's nearby). The community pool is fantastic. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Maria was more than helpful and extremely professional. Annette (from San Juan Capistrano, CA)"

  • Wonderful, relaxing trip

"We thought your unit was very spacious and nice- exactly like the photos. The property was very beautiful, quiet, and clean. We went whale watching on the pirate ship, snorkeling at Land's End, parasailing and more. My friend and I went to the Desert Spa and it was wonderful. The la Estancia staff was great- helpful and attentive. We got groceries at Walmart and ate half of our meals in and half out (went to the Office, Senor Frog's, Mi Casa, the Italian place at Palmar, and La Golondrina). Our family of 4 vacationed with our good friends who stayed in another unit at la Estancia. Very family-friendly resort. We will definitely be back and would be happy to stay in your condo again! You guys were so easy to work with- thank you!"

Baja California Sur Travel Tips

Family Fun at Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

Baja California Sur is a great family destination. The vacation homes available vary in size and some can accommodate up to 16 people. This means that you can enjoy a vacation with your siblings and their extended families, and have a whale of a time enjoying the beaches and other activities together. There are a number of well-known resort towns along the coast and many vacation rentals available in each town. Some of the more well-known vacation areas include Todos Santos, San Jose Del Cabo, Tortuga, La Paz, and La Ribera. Favorite activities include fishing and golf, although there are plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied. The beaches are great for building sandcastles, although the sea can sometimes be a bit too rough for swimming. Many of the vacation homes have swimming pools where you can cool off from the Mexican heat.

Seasons to Visit Baja California Sur Beach Houses

Baja California Sur enjoys a year-round hot climate. For some people, the summer months of June through August may be a bit too extreme but still many families come to enjoy their vacations during this time of year. Possibly the better time to visit is December through April when the weather is slightly milder and temperatures aren’t quite as hot. You can still enjoy warm sunshine each day and if the evenings get a bit chilly, you can always light up the fireplace to keep warm.

Luxury and Comfort at Baja California Sur Resorts

You can enjoy sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez from the bedroom of your vacation villa. Wake up each morning with the sea peaking over the water and glistening in the early dawn. Large shaded decks provide the ideal place to enjoy meals and socialize with family and friends. Take a batch of your favorite books and enjoy reading in a hammock while the warm breeze blows overhead. If you enjoy watching the waves, you may be fortunate to spot whales, dolphins or rays playing in the waves below. You will find that most villas are extremely spacious with multiple dining and living areas suitable for groups vacationing together. Modern and well-equipped kitchens make holiday catering easy. Some villas offer the services of a cook or house manager who will take care of groceries and preparing meals upon request. Bedrooms have ceiling fans or air conditioners to provide respite from the heat. This means that you are able to enjoy the warm climate without feeling discomfort.

Things to See and Do near Baja California Sur Vacation Rentals

One of the favorite activities on the Baja California Sur peninsula is fishing. Often, you can fish from the beach right outside your vacation home which negates the need to get in your car and travel anywhere. If you would like to head out and try to catch some of the big game fish such as marlin, tuna, dorado or wahoo then it’s best to join a fishing charter. The boats go out daily from the local marinas and are crewed by professional skippers that know where to find the fish. Be sure to take a wide-brimmed hat and loads of sunscreen, otherwise you may come back looking like a lobster yourself. There are several luxury health spas in the region where you can enjoy some pampering treatments and beauty therapy. This is an ideal way to spend your day when your spouse heads to one of the top-quality golf courses in the area.
