The only drawback of the airport is that it has no public transport links. The only way you can get there is by taxi or car rental.

There are two areas in the Distrito Federal that have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Xochmilco Ecological Park has a network of beautiful canals. A wooden boat that is decoratively painted with colorful flowers can take you on an excursion to explore the canals. The second heritage site is Mexico City's Historic Center. It is a part of the city where can see diverse architectural styles that span the centuries. There are several beautiful buildings in the Historic District which include the Pallacio de Bellas Artes and the Catedral Metropolitano. Just outside of Mexico City, you can visit one of the region's most famous landmarks, the Basilica de Guadalupe. The building has been beautifully preserved and provides some valuable insight into the local customs and traditions. There are many museums and art galleries in the Distrito Federal, and you can spend hours browsing through them. There are also many colorful markets and boutique stores where you can enjoy some shopping.

Best Season to Travel to Distrito Federal
Distrito Federal has two distinct seasons. The rainy season occurs during the warmer summer months and lasts from May to October. Rain showers are generally short-lived but the humidity tends to remain, even after the clouds have cleared. The dry season is from November through April. Spring and autumn are generally short and moderate. In the winter months, temperatures can drop to zero degrees overnight but the days tend to be mild and warm. In the summertime, daytime temperatures can get very hot. Distrito Mexico is a destination that can be visited all year although many people prefer the cooler and more temperate winter months.
