  • Excellent house

"When I decided to rent casa del limon I was in a hurry and had my reserves. I wanted a safe property very close to el jardin de la union and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The pictures on VRBO are good but nowhere near as beautiful as the property. The different sections of the terraza are and the views are breathtaking. I invited my friends over for a get together and they were all asking how I found the property...honestly, I wanted to be a little selfish because I want this house when I go back. Another review talks about the outdoor restroom as a drawback, I look at it as an adventure and part of the charm of such a gorgeous property. Let me just say a month was not enough to enjoy this beauty. If you are familiar with Guanajuato you will appreciate the how close it is to el jardin de la union and that it is only a few stairs uphill to get to the house. The kitchen is fully equipped! There were a couple of things but it has to do more with management than with the property is that there was no drinking water when I arrived and I was not informed of where to place the trash, but these small issues were not enough to take away a full star."

  • Wonderful hosts and beautiful casa in a quiet area

"My partner and I stayed one month at La Casa Rosa. We really enjoyed our stay thanks to Don and Gela's attitude: we couldn't expect more friendly and helpful hosts. Gela graciously shared her blender with me everyday. She also brought some fresh herbs and flowers to our kitchen. Don was always happy to give us advice for the rest of our trip in Mexico and on the best language schools in Guanajuato or where to go to get your hair cut. They are simply very nice people who really care about their guests. The casa is nicely decorated with Mexican ceramics and colourful fabrics and we enjoyed the quiet courtyard among pot plants. As for the location, you can walk to the center in 20mn and escape the city whenever you want, as the mountain is just around the corner. Don and Gela, thanks again for everything. That was a great pleasure!"

  • Charming house excellent for 2 couples

"This house is perfect for 2 couples with its 2 master bedrooms each with its own bathroom and sitting area. Its location in the flat part of the city makes it a comfortable 15 walk to the center. Go during the Cervantes Festival-it's great fun!"

  • Lovely house, great location, great city and a few notes of caution

"We spent two glorious weeks in Guanajuato. If we could we would return tomorrow. The house was perfect for our large group (7 people) and was exactly as represented. Jeff, the owner, was terrific and his on-site management team were responsive to our concerns. A few notes of caution: (1) the method of trash collection is to put your garbage in the alleyway directly adjacent to the house -- this means when you open the front door you see everyone's garbage lined up on the steps in the alley. It is picked up 3 times a day but at first it's a bit of a shock and when the dogs get to it a bit of a smelly mess; (2) the ground floor windows are all but useless except for letting in some filtered light. They are at street level which means the downstairs bedroom and living room are very dark and there is little if any airflow. (3) when we arrived on Saturday there was no water because the pump had broken and the management had decided to leave it until Monday -- after we threatened to move out they returned quickly and fixed the problem although we lived for almost a day with little water and most of another day with cold water showers; (4) this is not a luxury villa -- the dishwasher was broken, the ceilings leaked in both upstairs bathrooms and the downstairs bathroom shower never worked, tiles were loose in the kitchen floor and one fell off the cabinet next to the dishwasher, and the ornamental lighting throughout the house, while very pretty, was not very effective in actually lighting the rooms . But none of these issues were serious enough to cause anything more than minor inconvenience. Then why 5 stars? Because the house is in the best location in the city, the deck set-up is breathtaking and very well thought out, the house is large, the bedrooms are real bedrooms not closets and the master bedroom is beautiful and the paint choices inspired. The "reading room" is lovely with a beautiful view and with the windows open allows for a lovely breeze particularly in the afternoon. Another plus, being an owner of rental property myself, is that the owner of this property, Jeff, seems to be a really nice guy who is concerned about his guests, who does the best he can being a long distance landlord and who communicates immediately with any concerns or questions. We look forward to returning to San Cristobal and to this wonderful city."
