"My husband and I rented Casa Gilberto for the month of February 2015 and couldn't have been happier with our choice. The 2-bedroom home was everything we wanted and had everything we needed. The gardens are lovely. The Pratts (who live next door) are outstanding hosts, welcoming, available as needed, and ever helpful. We enjoyed our daily walk to the centre of town (El Jardin) whick took about 15 minutes, all downhill. After a few days of adjusting to the altitude (SMA is over 5000 feet above sealevel), I started to enjoy the walk back up as well. For those not inclined, taxis to anywhere in San Miguel cost a very affordable 35 pesos. SMA itself is a wonderful place, so much to do, and no need for a car. We warmly recommend Casa Gilberto based on experience, as well as the 2nd smaller property based on looks."

"We felt so lucky to find and stay a week at "Manto de Luna". This home has a great spirit.
We stayed with our two young daughters and enjoyed all the beautiful views and comfortable, relaxing spaces throughout this home. We walked every day to town and felt very safe in the neighborhood. San Miguel de Allende is a very family-friendly town. So much to see and do. We took full advantage of the owner's list of places to see and things to do. Then it was great to come back from all of the activities in downtown each day to such a nice, comfortable home.
The house is very well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen. We even prepared a big breakfast and served it on the rooftop terrace one day and it was absolutely amazing!"

"We LOVED our time here and the comfort, beauty and location of your home. It made our holiday extra special. We so enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and the living room and the books/videos! We had our evening wine and guacamole up on the roof terrace every night and so enjoyed the sunsets and views.
Each room has carefully been designed to maximize light, color and the framed beauty of the garden from the windows.
The native Mexican artwork and furnishings are so lovely and each room in appointed with special color and features.
If you love to cook, as we do, this is a VRBO paradise with everything you need and it’s all in good condition. We took a cooking class while in SMA and were able to return to the market the next day and recreate some of the dishes at the house with everything we needed to create a memorable holiday dinner together.
The location was perfect for access to the whole city and yet quiet and private.
We hope to return to Casa Escuela Bilingue for a future holiday vacation."

"The Magical Garden House was the perfect choice for a first visit to San Miguel with our 13-year old son. I love color and Mexican folk art, and this place has it in spades! The property includes a two-story, 2-bedroom home on one side of the garden, and "The Casita" - a studio apartment - on the other side. We rented only the two-story house, which has the living/dining/kitchen spaces and a powder room on the main floor, and an elegant curved wooden stair leading to the two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry facilities on the second floor. There are large, handsome built-in cabinets in which to store your belongings, and the entire wall facing the garden has operable windows to let in fresh air and the delightful frog and cricket sounds (and the occasional rooster) of uphill San Miguel!
The furnishings are cozy and comfortable and the beds and bedding are too. The huge bathroom upstairs is a work of art with its colorful hand-painted tile work and I especially enjoyed soaking in the deep tiled bathtub. The central garden is amazing, and features table and chair seating areas adjacent to the kitchen, a large covered seating area facing the garden and another umbrella table and chairs on the roof of the covered seating area. From the second story of the main house you access the Crow's Next -- which boasts a territorial view of San Miguel and the surrounding mountains. It is breathtaking and truly the cherry on the top of this charming house.
The location is very secure on a quiet street with a keyed metal door from the street into the garden. If that wasn't enough, the property is watched over by a lovely Virgin of Guadalupe wall mural across the street! Not once at the property or out and about in San Miguel were we concerned for the safety of ourselves or our belongings. It is an ambitious yet delightful 15-minute walk down hill to the center of town along rustic cobblestone or stone block streets. Everyone in San Miguel -- including the locals -- wear sturdy athletic or walking shoes. Keens would be perfect. Although we did walk back up the hill a few times, we more often opted to jump into one of the many green taxis which are prevalent in town and pip up the hill for the equivalent of about US$2.50. Can't beat that!!
There are many restaurants down the hill, as well as fresh tortillas, rotisserie chicken and other delights on your way to the Mercado des Artisanias. Don't miss the street tacos near the main square at night!"
