A gracious hostess and a beautiful garden property in the heart of town
"We are just back from a month in "The Villa" at Casa Mandu and couldn't recommend it more highly. It is such a beautiful property, hidden behind unassuming walls. The property is well maintained by a friendly and highly competent staff. The beds are VERY comfy and the indoor/outdoor areas make it a relaxing getaway. However, the best part of the property is Ruth, the owner. Although we had been to San Miguel before and came armed with the requisite guide books, Ruth was invaluable pointing out music and restaurants and events that we would never have found on our own. We felt like we had our own private concierge. By the end of our stay, she even organized a farewell wine party for us and our other new found friends staying in the "Casita" below but also on the property. Oh, and I forgot, the other important feature is the proximity to Le Jardin (the main town square). Taxis are inexpensive but this town is a walking town. Bring your tennis shoes or rubber soled shoes...the cobblestones are quite slippery especially in the rain. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to come back in the future. We miss you already Ruth!"

"My husband and I, along with two other couples, had the privilege of renting this lovely home during the month of February, 2015. The house is beautifully decorated and pleasing to the eye from all angles. There is a lot of light due to large windows and doors, several leading to beautiful terraces and patios. Most of these have views of San Miguel, the center of which is only a 10 minute walk away! The 3 large master bedrooms, each with a full bath, made the house very well-suited for 3 couples, however, it would be good for families as well. As described, there is one big hill to climb to reach the house from the center, but we all got used to it, and actually enjoyed the exercise. The view and accommodations were so worth it! There are two staff people who work at the house. First is Margarita who is a warm, welcoming hostess who is eager to improve her English, but at the same time, is a very patient teacher of Spanish. She is an incredible cook, and will give you a list of her favorite dishes to prepare. We gave her money for food for some special meals, then enjoyed the delicious aromas, tastes and presentation. Cruz is a gardener extraordinaire. He comes daily for several hours to tend to the dozens of potted flowers and plants that adorn the terraces. He is a gentle soul with a very green thumb. SMA is a lovely town, and staying in this house was the perfect complement to our stay there."

"We had a great stay at this house for a girls birthday trip! The house was spacious, staff attentive to all requests and in a perfect location!
Upon a late arrival, we were greeted with margaritas and guacamole and cut up veggies and fruit. ( our request) Breakfast was wonderful each day- prepared to our request.
There was some deferred maintenance and wifi limited to 2 rooms in the house. It would have been nice to have the pool heated.
Location was very close to all activities and restaurants! It was a great stay and we recommend it highly!"

"Casa Mandu is an exquisite property with luxurious gardens and accommodations. I first enjoyed staying in the Casita for a month in the Spring of 2014 and was so happy there that I returned in November for a 6 month stay. The vivid colors throughout the house perk up the Spirit the minute you step inside. It is cozy, very comfortable, with a small but well appointed kitchen if one likes to cook. The bed is comfortable as were the linens, especially flannel sheets in winter!
The Casita’s Patio is lovely and quite private for outside entertainment or just relaxation.
The owner, Ruth, goes above and beyond to make sure that guests are comfortable with their every need met. She has a friendly and accommodating staff. Rufina keeps the Casita immaculate, Aricelli takes care of the gardens and Manuel is there whenever needed.
I think that anyone who decides to stay in the Casita at Casa Mandu will be very happy. I certainly was.
