  • Magical Experience...

"I’ve been wanting to email you both since we arrived 2 days ago, but my head has been spun in so many different directions, I’m only now finding the time! I wanted to tell you both just how magnificent your home in San Miguel de Allende is, and just how much we all appreciate every single detail that you’ve thought of. The art is perfect, the decor so thoughtful and whimsical, the rooms delightful, the casita is breathtaking, and the courtyard is spectacular! It’s such a pleasure to spend our time in your home, and we truly love it as our own…so much so that we rarely get out the door until well after noon! Your fantastic housekeeper/cook duo are wonderful as well, and their attention to detail, as well as our wishes, is above and beyond. The city itself is pure magic, and we’re exploring more every day...your home's location is the perfect base for everything and everywhere we've been so far! The baths just outside SMA are a lovely retreat, and Guanajuato City is a must just for the tunnels and different feel! You two have really done it right, and I just wanted to let you know how grateful we are to be able to stay in your marvelous home away from home!"

  • The Perfect Oasis In a Perfect Holiday

"We recently spent a wonderful month in San Miguel de Allende based at the wonderful Casa Madelan. The city was exciting, busy, colourful and full of festivities and activities. The house by contrast was an oasis of peace and quiet and gracious indoor/outdoor living. Home owners Alan and Madeline have thought of everything. Three ensuite bedrooms with spaces to sit and read or write and rest ensured we and our guests were happily ensconced in our own comfortable digs. The shared spaces such as the beautiful central courtyard with lush vines and plants and fountain, the rooftop sala with ample seating and BBQ and satellite kitchen area, and the beautifully decorated and comfortable living room / dining room made communal gatherings a joy. At any point in the day we could choose between a lovely patch of sun or cool comfortable shade outside. The interior was beautifully lit with large windows letting in natural indirect light; and lots of thoughtfully designed interior and exterior lighting made every space beautiful and comfortable day and night. The main kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in and shopping at nearby markets, bakeries, butchers and grocers for fresh local ingredients for our meals was really fun. We also had a great time discovering local restaurants and cafes. We were walking distance to everything in the centro historico area and much beyond. When we tuckered out or it was getting late we just jumped into a taxi. We took in films, museums, concerts, markets, galleries and studios, and even took part in local volunteer activities. The neighborhood felt comfortable and safe and we enjoyed meeting the family who ran a little shop steps from our door where we bought water and anything we were running short of. The property manager Erika was very warm and helpful and it was great to know she was there when we needed her. Margarita came three times a week to clean and take care of the garden. She was very pleasant, efficient and thorough. Allan and Madeline’s passion for great design and comfort and for the magic of SMA was evident in every communication. Our San Miguel holiday was a perfect mix of activity and rest. Our stay at Casa Madelan was nothing short of wonderful! We felt extremely well taken care of and soul nurtured by all involved including San Miguel de Allende. We would love to return!"

  • Totally dreamy two weeks

"We had high expectations of this home and of San Miguel de Allende and were not disappointed. This home is remarkably tasteful, comfortable, and SO beautiful...we were blown away. It was perfectly suited for our group of five (one couple, one mother and daughter, one sister). The rooms are comfortably separate so privacy is very good and the furnishings, gardens and terraces are sublime. We spent a lot of time on the roof terrace and every moment was unique. Loved it The cobblestone climb from town to the house is a bit arduous but we loved it and used the extra activity to justify tucking guiltlessly into Margarita's delicious cooking. She will shop and cook for you, if you desire, and the cost was very reasonable. Margarita took extremely good care of us and everything was perfect. We are already planning our return trip."

  • Fantastic, beautiful home

"The house has a beautiful architecture with very nice nice terraces that have great views over the city. It's very cozy with great beds and large bath-rooms. Well-equiped and nothing missing. Ideal location to visit this beautiful city."
