  • Ticked All The Boxes

"We have stayed all over the globe. So, believe us when we say this place is special in many ways. First, the interior. It is gorgeously decorated, very spacious, well-maintained, chock full of all the necessities for our comfort including a helpful personally-organized information guide (restaurant, medical, etc.), very reliable internet service, and an extensive cable-channel selection which we watched in the upstairs bedroom and the living room. In addition, we enjoyed listening to a variety of CDs. The exterior. What a bonus! In the stunning garden/terrace, we watched the hummingbirds, sipped wine, read books, surfed the internet, ate breakfast, and strolled as we were in awe of the abundant variety of plants and flowers. On the rooftop patio, we watched more hummingbirds and could see well-kept horses and goats in the distance. The location suited our needs in terms of running three times per week in Juarez Park, shopping at Mega supermarket, and eating at the many restaurants in the adjacent San Antonio neighborhood. Finally, their staff was superb! We would rent this place again and again."

  • Lovely Apartment

"My husband and I were returning to San Miguel for our 30th Anniversary after a hiatus of 25 years. We were excited to see the changes and get re-acquainted with a charming city we had very fond memories of. Unfortunately, we got very sick in Cuernevaca and got to SM in pretty bad shape. Abraham met us at the house and was very nice. We spent the next 8 days forcing ourselves to go out once a day for provisions, but we were very compromised. Thank goodness for this lovely apartment. Comfy bed, a TV when we had no energy to get off the couch...the occasional trip to the roof for a little sunshine and the beautiful view. Located a few steps outside the Centro demarcation, it was fairly easy to get wherever we needed to go. The cobblestone streets can be steep in San Miguel, so we mostly cabbed home for between $2-$3 a trip. If we hadn't been staying in such a well-equipped apartment, I'm not sure what we would have done. We used the kitchen mostly to make tea, chicken broth, and toast. Thanks for help getting us through."

  • I'd stay again in a heartbeat!

"I was a little more than 2 weeks in SMA and I loved having this studio as my "home". Clean, well run, great, quiet location - with a roof deck that you can't beat. I discovered that this part of town is more Mexican and families rather than tourists and ex-pats - which I really appreciated. I agree with another reviewer - Maria's on Animas is a wonderful place for a home cooked meal (the Sopa de Pollo was delicious). Local buses and taxis will take you everywhere and are so affordable - no need for a car - save yourself the hassle. The managing company was great too - very responsive to any request or question - they will even help you book a shuttle to and from the airport (I recommend Leon - 1 hour/15 min away - small and easy international airport). I highly recommend this apartment!"

"Our family from Canada and the U.S. united at Casa LaRuina. Each had beautiful art-filled private accommodations and came together each day in the lush patios and roof-top gardens of the house for drinks and meals. The casa was a perfect base from which to explore the many restaurants, gardens, art galleries and music, or just stroll through the streets of the magical city of San Miguel Allende."
