  • Comfortable and Convenient

"Five of us stayed at Gracia during Easter week 2014. We had two couples and one single person in our group. The main house was great for the two couples as it has two nice sized bedroom suites upstairs. The single person utilized the separate-yet-close studio across the front courtyard. The accommodations were very nice and the food cooked by staff was terrific. The host was very helpful and was accessible yet stayed in the background so as not to be underfoot. The location was great for us as we were able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to explore in town. We took an excursion to Dolores Hildalgo that was guided by our host. It was a very worthwhile experience. All-in-all, we had a great experience and we would highly recommend Gracia for your next visit to San Miguel and the surrounding area."

  • The Perfect Oasis In a Perfect Holiday

"We recently spent a wonderful month in San Miguel de Allende based at the wonderful Casa Madelan. The city was exciting, busy, colourful and full of festivities and activities. The house by contrast was an oasis of peace and quiet and gracious indoor/outdoor living. Home owners Alan and Madeline have thought of everything. Three ensuite bedrooms with spaces to sit and read or write and rest ensured we and our guests were happily ensconced in our own comfortable digs. The shared spaces such as the beautiful central courtyard with lush vines and plants and fountain, the rooftop sala with ample seating and BBQ and satellite kitchen area, and the beautifully decorated and comfortable living room / dining room made communal gatherings a joy. At any point in the day we could choose between a lovely patch of sun or cool comfortable shade outside. The interior was beautifully lit with large windows letting in natural indirect light; and lots of thoughtfully designed interior and exterior lighting made every space beautiful and comfortable day and night. The main kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in and shopping at nearby markets, bakeries, butchers and grocers for fresh local ingredients for our meals was really fun. We also had a great time discovering local restaurants and cafes. We were walking distance to everything in the centro historico area and much beyond. When we tuckered out or it was getting late we just jumped into a taxi. We took in films, museums, concerts, markets, galleries and studios, and even took part in local volunteer activities. The neighborhood felt comfortable and safe and we enjoyed meeting the family who ran a little shop steps from our door where we bought water and anything we were running short of. The property manager Erika was very warm and helpful and it was great to know she was there when we needed her. Margarita came three times a week to clean and take care of the garden. She was very pleasant, efficient and thorough. Allan and Madeline’s passion for great design and comfort and for the magic of SMA was evident in every communication. Our San Miguel holiday was a perfect mix of activity and rest. Our stay at Casa Madelan was nothing short of wonderful! We felt extremely well taken care of and soul nurtured by all involved including San Miguel de Allende. We would love to return!"

  • The best rental in all of San Miguel!

"We have just spent three months in this charming oasis on the hill above San Miguel - a 20 minute walk to downtown (mostly downhill). This home has a real chef's kitchen - everything you could possibly want. Vibrant colors and beautiful Mexican folk art - gorgeous interior courtyard garden and rooftop. Fantastic property manager and staff, and the owners are great too! When we come back to San Miguel, this will be our first choice. Easy access to the highway and lots of little stores around - the best place we've stayed so far in San Miguel, we'll be back! Thank you so much :)"

  • Fine Living in San Miguel

"Beautiful upscale home with all modern amenities. Fully equipped kitchen with the best quality utencils and appliances. With several sitting areas through out the house it was easy for either one of us to sneak in a moment of quiet time to relax and read a book. We had plenty of choices, from sitting down stairs in the patio by the tree to going all the way upstairs to the terrace to enjoy the nightly fireworks with a glass of wine. This home was designed and furnished by it's owners, whom spared no expense in building a five star home around a magnificent tree.Truly magazine worthy! Location is excellent, quiet street, 4 houses away from a main street. Everything is at walking distance. The house is located on a flat street which is ideal in San Miguel. There are small grocery stores, wine shops, restaurants just a few blocks away and the Rosewood Hotel practically right across the street. The cathedral can be seen from the house terrace and can be walked to in 10 minutes. The house comes with the service of a housekeeper who comes for a few hours a day and a gardener who comes a few days a week to trim and maintain the grounds. The owners are the most delightful couple who make you feel like a friend from the beginning. Max and Alice took time to show us around the house and truly make us feel comfortable in their home. Truly we can't say enough, we loved staying in Casa Alicia."
