In general the region of Morelos in Central Mexico enjoys a warm year round climate. The most popular time of year to visit is during May and June when the days are warm and the nights are balmy but it’s not yet unbearably hot. In August and September the temperatures soar and the humidity gets quite intense. Most of the rain occurs between June and November and there is a risk of tropical storms blowing in from across the Caribbean. The more temperate months are from December to May which is considered the winter season. Possibly the most popular activity in the Morelos region is visiting the beaches. Enjoy hours of suntanning while watching the passing crowds, or take a romantic stroll and watch the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea. On some beaches, you can swim out to the house reefs and enjoy snorkeling in the shallows. Certified divers can sign up for dive charters which operate year-round, pending favorable weather conditions. In some of the more populated tourist areas, you can hire Jet Skis or charter boats for cruising and deep sea fishing.
Unique geological features of the Morelos region are the limestone sinkholes. Locally, they are known as cenotes. Most of these fill up with crystal clear water, creating natural swimming pools. One of the most well-known cenotes is Boca de Puma which has a cave passage and can be accessed by nice forest hiking trails.
If you want to enjoy some shopping or nightlife, the vibrant tourist center of Cancun is just a short drive away. Enjoy some fabulous meals at one of the many local restaurants and taste some spicy traditional food. There are many souvenir and craft stalls in the seaside villages that dot the coast. Hammocks, t-shirts and hand-woven bags are popular items on sale.
