  • Beautiful architecture, gardens, light and views close to el centro

"We have spent the last 2 February vacations in this beautiful house. We have loved it from our first introduction. Entering through the older casita on the street level, you open the wrought iron gates and you are in paradise. Greeted by flowers, lemon trees and a fountain, you see three levels of gardens, each with its own chairs and tables art and arches. Our favorite room of this multi-level house (built about 25 years ago) is the living room and its 2 terraces on the upper level. Being upstairs, the room is full of sunlight . From the windows and terraces, incredibly beautiful views of the parochia and the town. In the early morning, we love seeing the hot air balloons (with colors to match the town) floating above, and at dusk, the sunset as the sky turns its colors over the distant purple mountains. And at night we see the moon and the lights of the town. The living room is large with carefully chosen art and crafts from Mexico, sitting areas and a gas fireplace for cooler mornings. At night the indirect light gives a glow to the room. The bedroom on the 2nd floor has a comfotable bed, lovely linens and a tub in its bathroom. (each of the 3 bathrooms have tubs). The bedroom has lovely views of the gardens. Another wonderful aspect of the house is Luz, the housekeeper here for 21 years. She keeps the house and gardens beautifully , teaches us Spanish, and has become mi amiga mexicana. She helps me to feel part of the culture. Luz and her family live next door. I love the neighborhood, a mixture of friendly Mexicans and ex-pats. There are 3 tiendas on the small, quiet street and a neighborhoid bar/restaurant on the corner. The neighborhood is very safe. The jardin (el centro) is a 10-15 minute walk downhill. I return via Hospicio (not so steep), Baranca to Huertas. And taxis are $3.50 USD. Irena, the owner, has created this exquisite property reflecting her understanding of Mexico, her interest in art and architecture, light and color. She is very thoughtful and helpful. I have taken dozens of photos of the house, its angles, views , flowers and art. It complements beautiful San Miguel de Allende, and we love staying here."

  • Welcome Home in San Miguel

"We stayed in this wonderful apartment for two glorious months in San Miguel. The apartment is right in the central historical section of town. A perfect location and everything is in walking distance! The apartment is cozy and felt like home as soon as we arrived. It was well outfitted with everything we needed including a phone with free calls back to the US! The two, flower filled outdoor terraces are wonderful to relax and soak in the sun...and they have the best views in town! Had cocktails on the roof terrace while watching the sun set each evening. Paty the maid was terrific , and the owners, Jerry and Helen, are extremely helpful and receptive. A great stay and we will return!"

Getting to Central Mexico Vacation Houses

The main access point to the central region of Mexico is through the capital Mexico City. The Benito Juarez International Airport is located in Mexico City. It is one of Central America’s busiest airports and its expansion has only been hampered by the fact that it is surrounded by residential and commercial property. A secondary airport is the Toluca airport which handles domestic and private charter flights. The Mexico City Airport hosts most major North and South American carriers. There are regularly scheduled flights that operate daily between Mexico City and destinations such as Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Las Vegas and Dallas. If traveling from other parts of the United States or Canada, you can route via any one of these major hubs. A bus terminal located outside the airport provides public transportation to other parts of Mexico City. If you plan to explore further afield, it may be a good idea to hire a car for the duration of your stay.
