"My family stayed here, this was our 2nd time at this condo. Great place very nice owner and the couple that helps was very helpful. Food at the restaurant on location is very reasonable and very very good food. Would recommend to everyone."Guest: Rosie Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: October 1, 2014View listing
"We stayed here for a week and the place is great! Everything you might need to cook meals at the condo was available (excluding the food). Bed was comfortable. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The only drawback was no cable TV but if that isn't important this is the place for you! Ant problem but I think this is prevalent anywhere in this region. Crabs come out in the evening everywhere. Don't leave any doors or windows open cause they will come in the condo. Mangers were friendly and helpful. Would recommend having a car available since it is a ways from town."Guest: Sandi Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 30, 2014View listing
"Condo Alex was great! Convenient location for walking to the many restaurants, bars & clubs. Easy to grab a taxi or bus, too. Condo was comfortable: two bathrooms & the washer/dryer were the best! Water available on site & the staff were friendly & helpful. Poncho was the best: letting us in each night when we'd stayed out late! Other condo residents so nice & helpful. Alex was great to deal with in the booking process & Margarita & Gail were so nice to provide transport to/from the airport. Also they gave us information on what was happening for entertainment. Great stay. Thanks to everyone."Guest: Karen L. Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: March 6, 2014View listing
"Casa de Arcos is a beautiful, bright and spacious property with fantastic views, from all levels, of the Santiago Bay area. This home has everything anyone ever needs to enjoy an extended holiday - Canadian Satellite T.V., WiFi, cosy library, proximity to shopping (10 minute walk to bus stop), 15 minute ride to Soriana (grocery store), Walmart and restaurants, 10-15 minute walk to Miramar Beach. It is situated on a high point which means an energetic walk uphill if you are not driving a vehicle. This property has an enclosed 2-car garage and a secure outdoor parking area if driving a vehicle would be your preference. We chose to walk, bus and taxi around Manzanillo and found no difficulties whatsoever. Being a multi-level facility there are many stairs to negotiate so this house would be a challenge to anyone with mobility issues! Solving the drinking water delivery situation with the help of Cristina, the manager, and Humberto, her husband and caretaker, was a breeze. Renting this property through VRBO was flawless thanks to Carl, the owner, who always responded promptly to our questions. Without a doubt, we would rent this property again and would encourage family and friends to do the same!"Guest: Henriette & family Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: March 31, 2014View listing
Colima Travel Tips
Visiting Colima Vacation Rentals
Colima is a small state located on Mexico's Riviera. It covers an area of only 2,004 square miles and is bordered by the states of Jalisco to the north and west and Michoacan to the east. Within the state, there are two major cities that attract visitors. Manzanillo is well known tourist resort area located on a beautiful stretch of coastline. It is also a major shipping port on Mexico's Pacific coast. Sixty-one miles inland from Manzanillo you will find the state capital of Colima which shares the same name and is the largest city in the state. The beautiful historic city was founded in the early 1500s and boasts some spectacular colonial architecture.
Travelling to Colima Vacation Rentals
The Colima regional airport known as the Miguel de la Madrid Airport is located approximately 12 kilometers from Colima's city center. International flights connect via Mexico City to most major hubs in North America. Some international Airlines fly directly into Colima. Manzanillo Airport is located just outside of the city off Highway 200. There is a regional bus service in Colima but you may want to consider renting a car or simply using local taxis to get around.
The Best Time of Year to Visit Colima
Located within the tropics, Colima has a warm climate year-round. In July and August it can be particularly hot and humid but it is still a popular summer vacation destination for travelers from North America. The region has summer rainfall and these are usually characterized by late afternoon or evening showers once or twice a week. The rain brings a welcome respite from the heat and transforms the landscape to a vibrant green. Unfortunately, Colima does lie within the hurricane belt and storms can occur in the later summer months. For sun lovers, Colima's coastal resorts can provide a balmy mid-winter break where you can get away from the snow and catch a tan, even in December.
Places to Visit From Colima Vacation Houses
To the north of Colima are two impressive volcanoes which are collectively known as Volcan de Colima. These two peaks are Volcan de Fuego which is at an altitude of 3,980 meters. It is the more active volcano. The Nevado de Colima is a snow-capped 4,323-meter peak. Volcan de Fuego is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Manzanillo and is considered to be one of Mexico's most dangerous volcanoes as it became increasingly active between 1999 and 2005. There have been few major eruptions since but the peak is closely monitored by the University of Colima.
On the way to visit the volcanoes, it's a worthwile experience to make a stop in the small town of Comala. There is a quaint church and beautiful garden on one side of the main road; on the other side is a collection of outdoor cafés. Stop here for a drink and you may get to sample some of the local cuisine as provided by the Los Portales.
Within the city of Colima and Manzanillo, there are several interesting museums. The museums are open weekdays and showcase exhibits that range from cultural artifacts to spectacular photo collections and human rights themes. You can also view the works of local artists at galleries and browse the many stores for souvenirs. Just outside of the city of Colima is the La Campana Archeological Zone. This is a small archeological dig site that is slowly being restored.
Near Colima condos, there are many outdoor activities to be enjoyed. The coastal resort city of Manzanillo has spectacularly beautiful beaches and is reputed to be one of the safest destinations in Mexico. Enjoy diving, snorkeling, surfing and cruising or simply relax on the powdery white sands. Inland from Manzanillo there are rock pools, lakes and lagoons that are great for paddling, kayaking and swimming.
